Ex-Clinton aide rips Trump for revoking Brennan's clearance: 'What a vindictive little b----'

A former aide to Hillary Clinton slammed President Trump on Twitter Wednesday after he revoked former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance.

“Trump just revoked former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance,” Philippe Reines said in a tweet. “What a vindictive little b*tch.”

Shortly before Reine’s remarks on Twitter, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read Trump’s statement announcing the move during a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon.

"As the head of the executive branch and the commander in chief,” Trump’s statement read, “I have a unique constitutional responsibility to protect the nation's classified information, including by controlling access to it.”

The move came just one day after Brennan, who has long been critical Trump throughout much of his presidency, ripped Trump on Twitter in response to his tweet calling former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman a “dog.”

“It’s astounding how often you fail to live up to minimum standards of decency, civility, & probity,” Brennan said in a tweet. “Seems like you will never understand what it means to be president, nor what it takes to be a good, decent, & honest person. So disheartening, so dangerous for our Nation.”

The president also said he is still reviewing several other former intelligence officials’ access to classified information, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former National Security Administration Director Michael Hayden, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, among others.

Each of those individuals also have a history of making critical statements in the past.

It’s President Trump. He can do what he wants. To whomever he wants.

It has occurred to me many times since President Trump got inaugurated that ALL security clearances issued by Ophonybama’s gang of thugs, cutthroats and criminals should have been revoked the day they no longer had their government job!

I had a TS clearance, and lost it the day I left active duty! IIRC, I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

The ex-Ophonybama poobahs had no “need to know” when they were expelled FRom government service!

Their loss of their security clearances should have been automatic - for all of them!

Somebody has some explaining to do!

They keep their clearance and access because they often made (or were involved in making) major decisions on highly classified issues of long duration. Some have been in and out of government under multiple administrations; each time returning to a more important position and usually continuing to work the same issues. In short, they are a repository for understanding the long term and short term reasoning behind decisions. This is something that is not often written down explicitly. Biographers and historians, among others, often spend a lot of time trying to reconstruct this because of the insights they give to the personalities involved in the decisions and the factors those personalities considered important.

The deal with them losing their clearance and access is not just a loss of access and a blow to their personal prestige and marketability. The experienced advice they can provide is lost and, if properly observed, none of their friends and colleagues who still have clearances and access can talk to them about ANYTHING classified, historical, recent, related, unrelated, tangential, etc. Nothing.

Suddenly, like Will Rodgers, all they know is what they read in the newspapers.

Talk about entitlement. In what other country can one get fired from a top tier security job for leaking secrets and expect to retain full security clearance?

I guess that it's only these super elites democrats that are allowed to have & keep their security clearance long after they have left the jobs. While the rest of the peons like us, automatically lose theirs when they leave the job.

As usual, it's no laws applicable for the rich & powerful democrats connected vs everyone else gets the anvil dropped on their heads.

".... The president also said he is still reviewing several other former intelligence officials’ access to classified information including .... Clapper .... Comey .... Hayden .... Yates, among others. Each of those individuals also have a history of making critical statements in the past...."

Politico makes it clear they think Trump is pulling security clearances from these former intelligence officials because they have criticized him in the past.

But at the same time, Politico fails to mention that none of them need their government security clearances any longer because they don't work for the government anymore.

They spin it to make it look vindictive rather than revealing the true facts.

If no one with clearance can now share their intelligence with him we should watch him closely to see if he slips up and reveals something he’s not supposed to know.

I suppose it is kind of hard to get the Washington Post to pay for your hookers if you have nothing fresh to leak to them.

Kind of a funny story. I am a military contractor. I teach US pilots how to use certain equipment made in Israel.

The original manuals were written in Hebrew. I pretty much wrote the original manual. I assisted in translating the document to English (mainly to make sure subtle issues were not lost.)

Anyway, for a long while I was restricted from having/reading the English manual I wrote because Obama made it difficult for foreign nationals to maintain a security clearance.

So I would teach a class with the students having the English manual and me having the Hebrew manual. It was a complete pain in the ass

Typical government.

Since he is a private citizen with no clearance now, the violation, if I understand the rules, falls, not on him, but on the person who disclosed the information to him.

Still, Mr. Brennan will not be idle as slinging insults at the President seems to be much more interesting to him anyway.

Ditto. But I was in aerospace. Same rule.

I don't think so. As a person who has ever had access to classified info, even when your access is removed, you still have an obligation (under penalty of law) to protect that information. I think if someone gave you info that you knew you did not have access to, it would be your obligation to report that to a security official.

Brennan gave millions of dollars of contract work to A DOD contractor to change the agency management, how to do things, etc. Then I believe he was in on the decision to give a contract to Booz, Allen, Hamilton. They pay big bucks plus hire Colonels and project managers when they retire from the Gov. Brennan, Comey, and all are just white collar crooks.
