The prosecution wants the judge to correct something he said earlier in the trial.... He's likely reviewing to determine whether they are whining, or correct. My guess is the former.

Prosecutors for Special Counsel Robert Mueller are asking the judge overseeing the fraud trial of Paul Manafort to correct an earlier statement.

On Thursday, prosecutors questioned a loan officer for Citizen's Bank of New York, asking about Manafort's 2016 loan application that the bank rejected. U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III interjected: "You might want to spend time on a loan that was granted."

Early Friday, prosecutors said Ellis' crack "misrepresents the law" regarding bank conspiracy and "is likely to confuse the jury."

I’m guessing the judge and his family is being threatened.

Mueller’s goons hate this judge, want a liberal Black one instead, and likely found some embarrassing dirt on this one they threatened to expose.

Someone threatened or bribed a juror?

He is going to dismiss the charges.

Please. Dismissal of charges would blow a hole in Mueller’s boat and the witch hunt would swiftly sink.

New information surfaced against Mueller? Giuliani and Sekolow have been hinting toward corruption the past two days.

There is nothing wrong with the Judge saying "You might want to spend time on a loan that was granted."... The procecution was questioning a bank geek about a loan that wasn't granted. Why bother asking about loans that were not granted? Doh!

If the judge did it five minutes after the prosecution requested he correct an earlier crack he made in front of the jury then maybe the prosecution is threatening to request a mistrial? And the judge needs to confer with his superiors?

It means the judge has personal business.

Because bank fraud does not require the loan be granted. Only that the application itself was fraudulent. The judges remarks could be interpreted by the jury as fraud occurs only when a loan is granted.

Does a mistrial help or hurt the prosecution? I think it generally would help the defendant, especially at this point since the prosecution is the only side to have presented a case.

But if a mistrial takes the case out of Ellis' court, it might be worth it to Mueller.

The fix is in? He did apologize to mueller’s team after all...NEVER APOLOGIZE ITS A SIGN OF WEAKNESS! With all the shenanigans happening there in his courtroom you would think Ells would dismiss the whole joke of a trial by now. I believe Manafort has a chance in hell to escape the macabre deep state lynch mafia! ! He is so cooked!

If he said that then it really is out of line and should be considered confusing to the jury. You can’t knowingly present fraudulent documents to get a loan. The fact the load was not granted should not be material.

A threat to the judge would not be out of character for these prosecutors.

A mistrial is what Mueller wants. After the dissection of his key witness Gates, the best he can hope for is a hung jury, which would be very good for Manafort. A mistrial gets him another crack, a more compliant judge and a chance to correct his approach.

Then that’s a minor instruction he will need to make to the jury to ignore his statement, there will not be a mistrial and this judge will not need to recuse himself.
