Over the last few days weve seen the big tech companies make sweeping decisions about Alex Jones and Infowars. Apple took them off its podcast app; Facebook banned Jones and his associated pages; YouTube also banned the conspiracy theorist.
Now it seems Amazon may have made a few changes, too.
The ecommerce giant has long been known for its refusal to take a political stand about, well, anything. For instance, activists for years have lobbied it to stop advertising on Breitbart to no avail. Similarly, people have called for Amazon to stop selling Infowars/Alex Jones products, which the company seems to still be doing. This includes streaming some of Joness controversial movies, which promulgate his conspiracy theories.
On Amazon, @MorningTech found 9 Alex Jones movies available for streaming on Prime. One suggests a government plot for global extermination. And one of his books available online suggests 9/11 was orchestrated by the U.S. government pic.twitter.com/doh0mSuyG6

But Amazon wasnt just selling the productsit was sort of recommending them. A Politico story from this morning noted that many Jones products had the Amazons Choice logo on it, which is an internal stamp of approval for certain items on the platform. Now, it seems Amazon has taken the Choice designation away from Joness products.
For instance, per the Wayback Machine, both the Silver Bullet Colloidal Silver and Survival Shield X-2 Nascent Iodine drops were labeled by Amazon as a Choice product as recently as yesterday.

Reports this morning that he has been cut off of Discus, and some other big sites, as well. This a coordinated campaign. I think the guy is a jerk, but this is 21st Century book-burning.
When do they come for US?
Well, if what Jones says about those people is true, and it probably is, you would expect them to try to hush him up.
Same goes for any conservative voice. I am sure they have designs on this site.
I see that Amazon carries a healthy selection of Louis Farrakhan’s books:
https://www.amazon.com/Louis-Farrakhan-Books/s?k=Louis+Farrakhan&rh=n%3A283155
Amazon promotional logarithms are strange. If someone offers his products at a lower cost, his direct ads will be bumped in favor of the other.
Amazon is really tricky and ... frankly, Abusive to their sellers.
I used to say “Almost abusive” but my wife’s business has been laid to waste by the new Amazon and Ebay seller regs.
For us, as in Freerepublic ?
We should all be screaming in their faces about the rampant hypocrisy of continuing to provide platforms for Louis Farrakhan.
This is NOT about “hate speech”.
Yeah, well FR banned Infowars long ago.
Unforeseen consequences. We aren’t on the right side of this conflict.
I still hope our admin mods have a meeting to reconsider those voices on the right that may not be their _exact_ cup of tea.
I’m disappointed, frankly.
Alex Jones has made a lot of enemies with his crazy talk.
He really brought this on himself..................
I represent several clients that live and die by Amazon.
It is truly the new Wild West, but without even the semblance of an honest sheriff.
Shootouts in Grimy Gulch have been replaced by the same in Algorithm Alley.
Can somebody tell me why FR is so negative about Alex Jones (and citizen journalism generally)? Hardly a day passes when I don’t read several snarky comments about blogs and alternative media. I don’t see the same dismissive attitude toward obviously traitorous (and often demonic) media outlets.
Says The Boss:
“Sorry, 9/11 truther conspiracy freaks and snakeoil salesmen are no more welcome on FR than abortionists, homosexualists, socialists, gun-grabbers, open-borders pushers, God haters, America haters, etc., etc., etc.”
Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, are not God Haters, homosexualists, open border advocates, communists?
This meme seems to be accurate.
I’m not a fan of his but concerted campaigns to destroy a person’s livelihood across all platforms are innately ugly.
Take it up with The Boss.
Here Here !
I’m on your side on this. Pound for Pound, Alex Jones is the closest to journalism that anyone has really come in the independent field. He presents actual data - not from ridiculous sources either.
When he puts up his “conspiracy” he backs it with actual .gov documents that are available to anyone.
I still can’t figure out what derailed in the pizzagate investigation. He was onto something and then BAM it’s over.
This guy really has it going on. He’s more fun than Rush but his times of being wrong are about the same - high 90% of being right.
In the end, I dont think it is Jones they are trying to silence. It is Roger Stone...
