The Democrats set up a temporary "moderate" front whenever their far-left foot soldiers become an election liability, which is how the Democratic Leadership Council originally promoted Bill Clinton to the Presidency.

Who is going to drive the Republican voters?

Socialists like the tip stealing Ocasio-Cortez or millionaires like Sanders? After the fall elections when the Socialist and Democrats take both the Hose and Senate many here will be saying something like ‘we sure taught Ryan/McConnell a lesson they won’t forget!’

Then they will sit through the impeachment proceedings against DJT crying their eyes out, pointing fingers until the Senate trial begins when they go nuts and eat each other.

It’s sad when what used to be leftist-kook-wingnuts for the Dems is now considered the moderate faction because they’ve gone full retard.

"I think we need a debate within the party," he added. "Frankly, it would have been better to start the conversation earlier."

Twenty years earlier might not have been enough. This has been going on for a long time.

What the establishment wing of the Democrat party is actually looking for is a rock-star candidate (to get elected) who is amenable to establishment control (to govern). That's what the Republican establishment was looking for too until Trump crashed the party. It's sort of a tough goal. You end up with an establishment snoozer such as our boy Yeb! on the one hand, a guy like Bernie who has sizzle but no steak on the other. If they're lucky they'll find another Clinton, who became the establishment, instead of another 0bama, who landed it in the horrible mess it's in at the moment.

So, a unicorn, and best of luck with that. Their establishment is of the Hillary-Warren-Waters-Pelosi circle, which would be a tough sell in a gerontology wing. Outside of that it's a freak show. No wonder they're worried.

"Republicans have chosen the far right, which means that they have ceded a good portion of the middle of the road," said former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who is considering a presidential run.

Precisely wrong, Mitch. What typifies Trump's support is its surprising breadth, and people voted for him who wouldn't have considered any other Republican on the ballot. Trump's signature cry, "What have you got to lose?" resonated within the Democrat "base" that wasn't, and the Dems are now in the unfortunate position of having to recapture that base by pretending that its members didn't actually gain anything when it's painfully obvious that they have. Good luck with that too.

So they're pretty much stuck with playing to their strengths: bald-faced lying validated by complicit media. We'll see how that fares in November because it's way too late to change it now.

It’s a great idea. Put someone up who isn’t actually from the opposing party, and then someone who isn’t legally eligible to run because of her age and possibly status (don’t know if born in PR disqualifies her, but hey, Obama was born in Kenya and it didn’t disqualify him.)
