When convicted bank robber Luis Marty Narvaez walked into the Far East Side Madison branch of Chase Bank on the morning of March 1, 24-year-old Charles Daehling was just weeks into his position as an armed, undercover security guard working without a state license and under contract to an unlicensed and now-defunct Nebraska security firm.
Narvaezs head and face were covered with a black cap and black mask as he briskly stepped to a window where a teller was already helping a customer, stuck a bag under the window and demanded money but never displayed a weapon, according to a 124-page Madison police report and video surveillance footage of the incident.
Daehling was already standing up from a chair in the banks small lobby and pulling a gun from his waistband when Narvaez reached the teller. He then took about four steps toward Narvaez and, without saying a word, shot him once in the back from about 6 feet away.

Good. This guy won’t be trying to rob banks again.
meh I am good with that shoot.
Oh well!
Good shoot. The media is beside themselves as usual. “He was unlicensed and shot him in the back!” oh noes....jeez
Well, you know, maybe he should have waited for the guy to kill a few people first./s
Bank robbers in my opinion are capable of anything. For example, the vicious North Hollywood bank shootout some years ago where the two lunatics didn’t care who they wounded or killed.
The thug’s family will probably be the real bank robber when they sue the bank and some stupid jury awards damages.
Hard to believe the guy is not getting charged in Liberal Madison area, the liberal heart of Wisconsin
I am guessing that the robber had a gun; otherwise the article would have used the word "unarmed" continually to try to blow this thing up into an "incident."
Black mask == “Shoot to kill me” sign...
Three women in Ft. Worth were shot the other day during a bank robbery.
Someone who is willing to brandish a gun in a crime is willing to kill IMOH.
Well, there is always the possibility of a civil suit
That website goes out of their way to name and show a face picture of the guard. They obviously want him to suffer for stopping a robbery. Not every crook is Robin Hood, stealing for altruist reasons. If you could ask the dead man why he kept robbing banks, guess what he would have told you;
“That’s where the money is.” Period. End of story.
The company that hired the security guard sounds pretty shady. The hiring went through several different companies at least one not related to security. I bet it was a money laundry. I worked as a security guard for a company that I wondered about until I quit when there were fellows that appeared to be investigators of some sort asking questions a where I work about the security company. I quit a couple of days later when I found out that all three owners were out of the country while those guys were nosing around. They got busted and their company got terminated a few months later. My paychecks from my employer kept coming to me wrong and the payer was always a different source. The checks were always wrong but in both directions and they were balanced out within a couple of dollars when I quit.
I wonder when Auntie Faye will discover that.
“For example, the vicious North Hollywood bank shootout “
LAPD were seriously outgunned. SWAT went to a local gunshop and borrowed some high powered rifles to deal with them.
You bet. People who rob banks or kill or try to kill cops. They’re capable of anything in my opinion. I would have dropped him too and certainly would not have announced myself only to possibly get into a full blown shootout while other innocents were present.
Yep, it was quite an event. And a miracle the only ones killed were the bad guys.
