Starbucks Bans Plastic Straws, Winds Up Using More Plastic
Reason ^ | 7/12/18 | Christian Britschgi

Starbucks, the nation's largest food and drink retailer, announced on Monday that it would be going strawless....

As is to be expected, Starbucks' decision was greeted with universal adulation....

I have a family member in a wheelchair and his arm mobility is extremely limited.... he can’t lift a cup to his mouth. Anyway, all this nonsense is forcing him to take along his own straws when we go out for dinner anywhere.

Unreal. Major American corporations doing gyrations in an effort to keep the equivalent of 1973 high school art class students happy.

Kinda like wetting yourself in dark trousers.

Gives you a nice warm feeling, but nobody notices.

And they have to strangle a dolphin to make every one.

Paper straws that stand up to use. We have the technology.

SJW’s and their crazy back-firing schemes also remind me a bit of the ole Bullwinkle gag:

“Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat”.

Starbucks is trying to see how annoying a company can be and still stay in business. Holy F they are annoying...

I love Caffeine, but I’d spend the rest of my days without it if Sbux was the only choice.

F/ SBUX!

“Paper straws that stand up to use. We have the technology.”

Yeah, that's the ticket, use plastic-coated paper straws, because hot coffee turns uncoated straws to mush almost instantaneously.

A lot more.

Just like ethanol gas.

Worse for groundwater pollution than just pure gasoline.

The one thing that I wonder about is if they move back to paper straws (paper = wood = trees) when are the “Save the trees people” going to show up?

They should hand out red licorice or red vines twists. Bite off the ends and use as a straw. Fat free and tasty. Kids love them (so does my wife).

Have him move to Texas. We still have plastic straws for the asking.

Several weeks ago, we went on vacation to several Southwestern states, including NM, Arizona and Utah. In the latter 2, they didn’t bring straws with the drinks (unheard of in Texas) and when we asked for one, we got a paper one.

The only thing about the new cup at SB is that it MIGHT be recycled, unlike straws. Anyone know for sure?
