“There should not be a right or left on courts. It should always be interpret the law as written not as you want it to be.”

That’s how it should be and when I was VERY young I thought that was how it was. Now I have a little more understanding of how the human mind works.

Is he still being Blackmailed?

If he has been blackmailed in the past, he is no longer under threat (unless who ever has negative information on him just want to destroy him).

Let us assume he has been blackmailed, and let us assume that what ever it is is released to the public, what would the results be...

1. He sucks it up, explains his side of the issue and remain on the bench, no longer afraid of exposure.

2. he sucks it up, explains his side of the issue and resigns from the court. President Trump appoints a new Justice.

3. Those with the information decide not to use it, he realizes that their knowledge is no longer a threat and he begins to rule according to the constitution. A win for us.

The only bad outcome is if he is such a moral coward he remains under the control of his (supposed) blackmailers.

Of course Justice Roberts could just be one of those guys you can not figure out and will vote how he “feels” on an issue.

And the ObamaCare decision wasn't a terribly egregious one, in my mind.

ObamaCare is an unconstitutional pile of crap, but not necessarily on the specific points of the legal challenge in that case. I said all along that the individual mandate was likely to stand up to legal scrutiny. I still say ObamaCare hasn't faced a very credible constitutional challenge that has reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

Do you not know why we think he is being blackmailed?

I think #2 is the most likely.

In a sense no, but also in a sense yes. If he were blackmailed then that actively stopped once Trump started to weed the pond. But if he was, then he is now wondering when the truth will come out. From a number of key points in the Strzok texts, we have learned that several people were gone after, including Justices.

Once all is made public about the FISA unmaskings, that will become evident that the potential is that he was.

Here is a REAL possibility, even if it's speculation.

Consider North Korea...most of the planet thought there was NO WAY Trump could neutralize them. And here we are. There are rumors that we caused an explosion that wiped out a large number of their scientists...in a manner whereby we let Rocket Man know he will sleep with fishes if he doesn't wise up.

Trump is from Queens and worked in construction. He's not a Bushie or a community organizer. I'm sure he's dealt with some tough hombres.

So, consider this possibility...Trump does his homework and calls Chief Justice Roberts to the WH. After some chit chat Trump clears the room and tells the CJ:

listen, I understand there may be a situation in your life that the prior Administration used to, let's just say, make you an offer you couldn't refuse. Now, I'm not one to judge...look at my life! But I am not very happy with this Deep State arrangement that continues to hurt the American people. I believe I have found a way to neutralize this arrangement in a way where nobody gets hurt, your situation remains a private matter, and you can freely adjudicate matters in line with what your pre-confirmation history suggested you would...no more Obamacare pretzel logic required.

I keep trying to tell people, that Roberts’ vote for Obamacare was a brilliant strategy to *guarantee* it would be destroyed, a “poison pill”. Here’s the logic.

Justice Kennedy would vote with conservatives only on small stuff, then vote with liberals on the big issues. He wanted to be the “swing vote” to get his name in the law books. He wanted to go out with a bang by being the deciding vote FOR Obamacare.

If Justice Roberts had voted *against* Obamacare, Kennedy would have voted for it. And we would have been stuck with it forever, in the *worst* possible form, because the decision would have been written by the liberals, who would have made it bullet proof.

HOWEVER, by voting *for* Obamacare, Roberts hit a home run.

Not only did he thwart Kennedy, who then bitterly joined the losing side to vote against Obamacare, but more importantly it allowed Roberts, as Chief Justice, to invoke one of his few unique powers as Chief Justice: if he joined with the majority, he could assign who gets to write the decision.

And he chose himself, which is where the poison pill comes in. He did this by defining the mandate as a tax.

In the US constitution, Obamacare was designed to be the kind of law that could *only* be overturned by a 2/3rds majority vote in *both* the house and the senate. Which would make it immortal. But the constitution clearly says that tax law *must* be decided by a “simple majority”, only 51%, in both houses.

So Roberts’ strategy made it so that *any* time the Republicans held the slimmest of majorities in both houses, they could KILL Obamacare.

In short, Roberts *personally* drove a stake through the heart of Obamacare.

So for all the conservatives cursing him, he is a conservative hero. It will take a while for people to learn this, but when he has a fully operational conservative court, the SCOTUS is going to shine like never before.

If President Trump nominates someone as brilliant as Justices Roberts, Thomas, or Gorsuch, we may see the systematic dismantling of more than a hundred years of failed leftism.

No....the NYT exposed what he is being blackmailed for, and were SHAMED into not reporting on it further.

Have you seen where the Left wants to expand SCOTUS to 11 or 15 members when they take Congress back?

No.

Obama was doing the blackmail.

Really?

Whatever Obama (or his minions) had on Roberts is still out there to be used again ... and again.

And, no doubt, they WILL use it!

Roberts was blackmailed/threatened to change his vote on CommieCare - Scalia confirmed that change.

So it’s highly likely he can be blackmailed/threatened on other issues.

Thanks “W” for knowingly giving us someone who can be blackmailed...and he tried to give us the leftist, Harriet Myers.

It was about the way Roberts adopted his kids, who are now at least in High School.

The appointment to the high court is for life and any attempts to make an obscure adoption process an impeachable offense at this point, is unlikely to gain any traction.

Personally I want to see Breyer or Ginsburg replaced by Trump

Trump as a supreme court justice? I'm good with that (in about 6 years).

I'm more inclined to think that it was Robert's pro bono work for militant homosexual groups, and that there may be pictures involved.

“Moving right” in this instance means stepping away from the precipice of full blown Bolshevism.
