The NSA’s Hidden Spy Hubs in Eight U.S. Cities
The Intercept ^ | June 25 2018 | Ryan Gallagher, Henrik Moltke

Posted on 06/25/2018 7:21:53 PM PDT by McGruff

The secrets are hidden behind fortified walls in cities across the United States, inside towering, windowless skyscrapers and fortress-like concrete structures that were built to withstand earthquakes and even nuclear attack. Thousands of people pass by the buildings each day and rarely give them a second glance, because their function is not publicly known. They are an integral part of one of the world’s largest telecommunications networks – and they are also linked to a controversial National Security Agency surveillance program.

Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. In each of these cities, The Intercept has identified an AT&T facility containing networking equipment that transports large quantities of internet traffic across the United States and the world. A body of evidence – including classified NSA documents, public records, and interviews with several former AT&T employees – indicates that the buildings are central to an NSA spying initiative that has for years monitored billions of emails, phone calls, and online chats passing across U.S. territory.

I’ve been there more than once.

The Stasi existed for 40 years and collected between 900 million and 1 billion pages of data on it’s citizens.

The NSA does that every two days.

The intelligence community has clearly shown that it feels justified to interfere and intervene in domestic political races. This evil system is aimed at us, NOT at any enemy.

Hey NSA, turn over Hillary, 0bama, holder and Benghazi e-mails or you are accomplices and will get the wrath of the citizens.

"Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C."

When the time comes, the NSA should pipe the feeds to television. That way, we can all watch the zombie outbreak. ;-D

I wonder if this spying activity is connected with the inaptly named “Patriot” Act?

Is this really surprising? These Cold War relics stick out like a sore thumb, having no windows in order to protect from outside radiation, perhaps even atomic bomb blasts.

The old AT&T has worked hand in glove with the government to give them virtually anything that they ask for. This is a simple story, and the article is way too long for such trivial reporting.

By the way, we have one of those buildings in Boston, with the microwave transmitters and receivers on the top. You would think the author could get such simple details right. These buildings are so obvious.

Clapper.

Built the NGA which is larger than the NSA. This is Obama’s legacy, to know everything about America’s bitter clingers.

NSA’s open budget is around 10 billion. Snowden said it was around 50 billion off the books per year for surveillance and data collection in 2012, if I recall. They can’t even tell us how many work for the NSA, it is estimated between 30,000 and 40,000 employees. The NSA is the largest employer in Maryland. Go image search what the main building looks like.

I bet the 2016 NSA employee campaign contributions went to Clinton by 90% +.

“How did we get to this point?”

Apathy bred from success. We haven’t even had 65% eligible voter turnout for 100+ years, the poorest are the most likely to be obese and have smart phones.
