It that Rutland, Vermont? If so, makes sense. The reds took over Vermont in the early 70’s, by design. Even established a communist training school called “Goddard-Cambridge” or reversed. Lots of well known communist agitators were teachers there, including Leslie Cagan.
The reds took over small city=hall councils, and ever a couple of mayorships (i.e.Bernie Sanders), plus hired Lee Webb and one of the leftist radicals from the Chicago 7 - John Froines, to be their Commissioner (?) of Environmental Affairs.
Hanoi operative Dave Dellinger moved to Vermont to be near these young communist-wannabees, as their mentor and guru.
The only thing that held New Hampshire together for so long was Bill Loeb, the editor of the Manchester Union Leader (for whom I did a couple of articles). He was an old-style patriot, close to Teddy Roosevelt’s family (he hired Roosevelt granddaughter Eddy Kermit Roosevelt as a reporter and I helped her on some stories).
After Bill died and his wife Nackey give up control the MUL, things began to go downhill from there, while a lemming-like hord of liberals and reds flooded the state, coming from New York and Massachusetts.

She went to high school in Rutland, Vomit, and her mother Mary Diane Marriott still lives in Rutland.
