The reds took over small city=hall councils, and ever a couple of mayorships (i.e.Bernie Sanders), plus hired Lee Webb and one of the leftist radicals from the Chicago 7 - John Froines, to be their Commissioner (?) of Environmental Affairs.
Hanoi operative Dave Dellinger moved to Vermont to be near these young communist-wannabees, as their mentor and guru.
The only thing that held New Hampshire together for so long was Bill Loeb, the editor of the Manchester Union Leader (for whom I did a couple of articles). He was an old-style patriot, close to Teddy Roosevelt’s family (he hired Roosevelt granddaughter Eddy Kermit Roosevelt as a reporter and I helped her on some stories).
