According to Round Rock ISD data, in 2017, African-American students represented just 8.7 percent of RRISD students, but received 33 percent of all discretionary discipline placements. Parents like Mischia Farrer say they’re concerned those numbers aren’t proportional. “It’s just really unfair and it makes it hard to feel safe,” said Farrer. “I want my kid to feel safe in school. I don’t want them to feel like they’re afraid. It’s not a prison... The new district police department is estimated to cost RRISD $2.7 million each year.

Mischia, if your kid is a little thug in school and isn't disciplined now, he'll grow up to be a big thug in prison.

There's those ratios again. Consistent all across the nation. Either the numbers are correct or blacks should leave on the first plane back to Africa where they aren't discriminated against.

And what percentage of students make up that disciplinary group? I suspect the number of non-disciplinary kids is the vast majority. Kick the others out and make the school safe for the remaining kids.

I want my kid to feel safe in school.

Simple. Teach him not to assault other people, steal their stuff, or otherwise disrupt the proceedings.

Could that discrepancy possibly be due to BEHAVIOR?

Male blacks from 15 to 55 are what, 3.5% of the population. But they commit half or nearly half of the violent crimes, and predominantly against other blacks. How is that MY fault?

Round Rock is just north of Austin, also home to Dell computers.

It’s almost entirely in Williamson County so it’s outside the kookiness that is Travis County (Austin) and has had rather explosive growth over the past 20 years in the tech industry.

So let’s blame the school district instead of the troublemakers.

Of course not. Don’t be silly. The only possible reason is racism.

(Of course the same logic does not seem to apply when differences in incarceration rates between men and women are discussed.)

Because AA kids get into trouble more than Whitey who gets into trouble more than Indians or Japanese or Chinese. Case in point: a nice town with a lot of cows and corn fields, and great schools. Until the town idiots decided to bring kids in from the city. Intimidation, trouble, bullying, lack of study, general disruption, blaming it on Whitey.

Good point.

And, the parent worried "about safety" is really stating a worry about their brat getting disciplined. Safety from discipline.

if blacks are getting 33 percent of the disciplinary actions, that means that they are committing at least 50 percent of the problems. If anything, they’re probably getting off lightly.

Looks to me that it’s the non-minority parents who need to worry about the safety of their kids and the teachers. From the minority kids, of course.

Hence the reason I put (Round Rock, TX) at the end of the title - Round Rock Independent School District.

You can’t pick out “School District” from the last two letters and the name of the school district from the rest?
