Manafort Sent to Jail After Judge Cancels House Arrest

Update: Paul Manafort is heading to jail, ahead of his trials for bank fraud and money laundering, Bloomberg News reports.

A judge in Washington revoked Manafort’s bail Friday after being told by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s lawyers that Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, attempted to tamper with witnesses for his trial. Manafort has "abused" the trust placed in him six months ago, the judge said.

Previous report:

Paul Manafort could be locked up as soon as Friday if a judge agrees with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s argument that he tried to tamper with witnesses while under house arrest.

Manafort, a former campaign chairman for President Donald Trump, arrived at the federal courthouse in Washington just before 9:30 a.m. He is accused of money laundering and acting as an unregistered foreign agent of Ukraine. But what could land him in jail as he awaits trial are new charges relating to witness tampering.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson will have the final say after considering arguments from Mueller’s team and Manafort’s lawyers. She could also impose more stringent bail terms than Manafort’s $10 million bond with electronic monitoring.

“She absolutely could lock him up,” said former federal prosecutor Courtney Oliva. “I think he’s got an uphill battle, and it’s likely he’ll get sent to jail. If he’s not, it’s because he’s not your run-of-the-mill defendant, and she’s just being very careful.”

Thank you for the information. I hope that you are wrong about Trump’s next step (”I sincerely think Trump doesn’t have the stones to take the next step.”) Because if he does not, no one else will and short of the people overthrowing the government ( which will not happen) our Republic is lost.

I must say I don’t know if Manafort is a good or bad guy...but judging by the way Trump treated him at the end, I can glean something about him.

Trump asked Manafort to resign because Trump didn’t want to fire him due to the negative connotations, Manafort refused, so Trump simply removed all of his responsibilities. Just cut him off in place, so to speak, to wither.

Says something about Manafort that he wouldn’t resign, and it says something about Trump that he just dug a functional moat around him, gave him a beach chair and a book, and didn’t give it a second thought. Just kind of left him there.

I believe Manafort quit two days after that, IIRC.

Trump does have a thing about loyalty, and taking orders. When Lewandowski was fired (after losing out in the internal power struggle to Manafort) he went out with his head up high, Trump shook his hand, patted him on the back, and later on when Lewandowski was working for CNN, when asked by a staffer if Lewandowski could fly with them on the campaign plane (while working for CNN!) Trump cheerfully and enthusiastically said “Absolutely!” (Lewandowski got in trouble at CNN for that)

I think Beautiful_Gracious_Skies is spot on...they needed someone with a certain skill set to do a specific job (rein in delegates) and Lewandowski didn’t have that experience, hard working as he was.

Soooooo...in comes the hired gun, Manafort...and I can be grateful for that!

Mulehead won’t be fired or arrested…-————————————————————
You are (sadly) a level headed and smart person.

I wish there were a way to get justice in this country. Like good guys put the bad guys in jail when they do wrong under the law. The policeman or FBI agent is your friend and brings the lawbreaker to justice and punishment.

I’m getting too depressed over this.

Mueller has nothing on Trump. So, he figures his best shot at getting Trump impeached is to get Trump to fire him.

So, he’ll do whatever he can get away with, as long as he maintains uniparty support. If Trump fires him, even better.

Mueller is sending a message to Trump and others....... back off

Trump has not yet started to fight and when he does, there will be many symbolic deaths. .the threats and messages will be trashed, lost in the chaos aand agony that is going to prevail among the Ameritrash leftists.

There is no hijacking of the thread.

Read and give your self a history lesson.

Question: Why did Trump need to hire Manafort when he was winning everything BUT the corrupt cock-eyed caucus states (and the prairie states)?

Answer: Because Lyin’ Ted, aka Thievin’ Ted was poaching Donald Trumps delegates, by the dozen!!!

Look it up. state after state. It was absurd.

Without Thievin’ Ted there would have been no involvement necessary from Paul Manafort.

Deal with it; it’s the reality of the 2016 election.

They caught him red-handed:

Hear hear. I’m afraid that purge is what we would have been seeing if the bad side had won. And it would have been whatever’s left of conservative or conservative sympathizing officials in the country and media. Including shutting down the alternative media. It would have gotten very very ugly.

Exactly. Manafort was the ENFORCER of the primary results. Paul delivered- the will of the People- the Republican people who voted in the election.

What gives Cruz, or any other candidate, the right to step into an election and ‘man-handle’ the delegates- canceling the results of elections?

In Florida, over a million people chose Donald Trump to be the R nominee for president.

How does Cruz have the audacity to try and steal Trump’s Florida 99 delegates to vote for him, the 3rd place winner with 17% of the vote? And he did this in several states and Trump finally acted by hiring Paul Manafort to stop Ted.

Ted’s surrogate- Never Trumpers were dispatched last minute to the National Republican Delegate Convention in Hollywood, Florida. I was there watching shady creeps desperately trying to convert delegates for Cruz. They failed.

Luckily the Florida (R) rules obligate all of those 99 (bound) delegates to the peoples’ choice through a THIRD vote.

FL -(It’s all or nothing, baby. Ted was entitled to nothing.) The other states have various rules, many more ripe for poaching. It’s not as bad as the D’s super delegates, but in the same vein. (State chooses Bernie, Hillary steals the delegates.)

Manafort was there at the delegate convention and he shut TeamTed and the GOPe down, like with a body slam. Trump should have hired him earlier and put a stop to it because they learned they could get away with it and had become increasingly aggressive.

Manafort has a very commanding presence and without him or someone very well-seasoned, just like him, Trump would not have overcome that threat. Paul was there to fend off disloyal dishonest disgruntled losers from poaching our delegates.

The man did his job, as promised.

Wrong. We live or die by our constitution. They get due process then, upon conviction, whatever the law allows. Some will be by tribunal. We can’t allow them to turn us into the French Revolution.

Very well put!

People who call for all this extra-constitutional actions outside of due process are calling for things no better then as you said what was done in the French Revolution (Revolutionary Tribunals) or the People’s Courts in Revolutionary Russia (or any other shithole socialist society!)

People need to watch the French Revolution (With English subtitles!) on YouTube, its was a series done in the 1980s to commemorate the French Revolution. (its pretty good, acting solid large international caste, Same Neil is Lafayette. Also it shows it bloody horrible deed after bloody horrible deed, covers up nothing!) Also the need to download the Russian film (with English subtitles) “The Chekist”. Another honest look at want happened and the dangerous of political fanaticism. It’s a incredible film, particularly considering where it was made and how soon after the fall of the USSR.

Manafort joined the Trump campaign on March 29, 2016. He left on August 19. That a total of 143 days.

The long train of abuses continue.

It is reported that the Tyrants put shackles on him and dragged him to jail.

They are trying to “sweat” him to testify against Trump.
