I must say I don’t know if Manafort is a good or bad guy...but judging by the way Trump treated him at the end, I can glean something about him.

Trump asked Manafort to resign because Trump didn’t want to fire him due to the negative connotations, Manafort refused, so Trump simply removed all of his responsibilities. Just cut him off in place, so to speak, to wither.

Says something about Manafort that he wouldn’t resign, and it says something about Trump that he just dug a functional moat around him, gave him a beach chair and a book, and didn’t give it a second thought. Just kind of left him there.

I believe Manafort quit two days after that, IIRC.

Trump does have a thing about loyalty, and taking orders. When Lewandowski was fired (after losing out in the internal power struggle to Manafort) he went out with his head up high, Trump shook his hand, patted him on the back, and later on when Lewandowski was working for CNN, when asked by a staffer if Lewandowski could fly with them on the campaign plane (while working for CNN!) Trump cheerfully and enthusiastically said “Absolutely!” (Lewandowski got in trouble at CNN for that)

I think Beautiful_Gracious_Skies is spot on...they needed someone with a certain skill set to do a specific job (rein in delegates) and Lewandowski didn’t have that experience, hard working as he was.

Soooooo...in comes the hired gun, Manafort...and I can be grateful for that!

Exactly. Manafort was the ENFORCER of the primary results. Paul delivered- the will of the People- the Republican people who voted in the election.

What gives Cruz, or any other candidate, the right to step into an election and ‘man-handle’ the delegates- canceling the results of elections?

In Florida, over a million people chose Donald Trump to be the R nominee for president.

How does Cruz have the audacity to try and steal Trump’s Florida 99 delegates to vote for him, the 3rd place winner with 17% of the vote? And he did this in several states and Trump finally acted by hiring Paul Manafort to stop Ted.

Ted’s surrogate- Never Trumpers were dispatched last minute to the National Republican Delegate Convention in Hollywood, Florida. I was there watching shady creeps desperately trying to convert delegates for Cruz. They failed.

Luckily the Florida (R) rules obligate all of those 99 (bound) delegates to the peoples’ choice through a THIRD vote.

FL -(It’s all or nothing, baby. Ted was entitled to nothing.) The other states have various rules, many more ripe for poaching. It’s not as bad as the D’s super delegates, but in the same vein. (State chooses Bernie, Hillary steals the delegates.)

Manafort was there at the delegate convention and he shut TeamTed and the GOPe down, like with a body slam. Trump should have hired him earlier and put a stop to it because they learned they could get away with it and had become increasingly aggressive.

Manafort has a very commanding presence and without him or someone very well-seasoned, just like him, Trump would not have overcome that threat. Paul was there to fend off disloyal dishonest disgruntled losers from poaching our delegates.

The man did his job, as promised.
