It makes me angry to see that picture. We had POW’s in Vietnam who made a flag out of scraps of cloth and took it out every day to do the pledge of allegiance.
They had to keep it hidden because if it were found they would be tortured and beaten...but it was found. They beat the officer who owned it (LT Michael Christian) but he sewed another one up immediately.

That is kind of funny but largely true.
Funny, never happened to me with the National Anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance which are certainly more complicated.
But then, after all these years, I could still recite the Scout Oath.
Heh, I tried to remember the USN General Orders of a Sentry, but those escaped me utterly! (I can still remember how to do the 16 count manual of arms, though. Isn’t that odd? I would think that would get jettisoned as useless knowledge a long time ago!

And it was fine when Obama didn’t put his hand over his heart for the Anthem and who probably never knew the words to the Pledge or any other patriotic song....damn that Trump for not being 100% on something that those writing about it may be 10% on...
