110 Confederate monuments removed since 2015: report (splc pukes!)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- It took generations to erect all the nation's Confederate monuments, and a new report shows they're being removed at a pace of about three each month.

The study -- released Monday (June 4) by the Southern Poverty Law Center -- shows that 110 Confederate monuments have been removed nationwide since 2015, when a shooting at a black church in South Carolina energized a movement against such memorials.

The number -- which includes schools and roads that have been renamed in California, a repurposed Confederate holiday in Georgia, plus rebel flags and monuments that have been taken down in Alabama, Louisiana and elsewhere -- represents a relative handful compared with the more than 1,700 memorials that remain to hail the Southern "lost cause."

So, will anyone demand Union memorials be removed? I mean what's the point if the Civil war never really happened. And, if it didn't happen then there must not have been any slavery either. Right. I mean it they're gonna be stoopid, see it through.

“I think people are finally willing to confront the history and come to terms with it.”

In discussing the war, it is important to note that both Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln were fighting to preserve their respective nations’ constitutions.

And both the USA and CSA had constitutions with undisputed pro-slavery provisions.

Arguments can be made that all monuments erected before noon, January 20, 2017 should be taken down. I don’t agree.

Leave what we have alone.

The report should read “110 Democrat monuments removed”.

The Democrats cannot win on facts, so they destroy the remaining visual reminders of their history, before they begin to rewrite the history books.

It doesn’t matter that General Lee opposed slavery. He’s got to go, because liberal history says he’s a racist.

So did General George Thomas. Grant freed his slave after about one year in 1858. The Thomas’s house slave wasn’t freed until the 13th Amendment was ratified. When that happened, the slave women stayed on with the Thomas household as a paid house maid.

There has been a lot of US shaming and South shaming on the topic of slavery, but no shaming of the Democratic party.

The Democratic party was the pro-slavery party, both in the north and the south. The Lincoln-Douglas debates concentrated on slavery. The good people of Illinois sent the pro-slavery Douglas to the US Senate.

If every instance of shaming had been met with a reminder of the Democratic party’s role, I suspect this and many other topics would just shrivel up and die.

Not one Republican owned a slave. The civil war should actually be called the Democrat/Republican war and rather than Red State vs. Blue it should be blue state vs. grey.

The museum will tell the "Southern side" of the war, Strain said.

LOL! Well that should be interesting.

“both the USA and CSA had constitutions with undisputed pro-slavery provisions.”

The only thing that comes to mind in the US Constitution was the method for determining the number of Representatives in the US House of Representatives. It is based on population - but how to count the slave population? Did you have anything else in mind?

110 Monuments of Historical significance removed. So much for educating our children.

And the MLK monstrosity does NOT belong in DC along with our Presidents.

Where the hell are the history professors and teachers who job is to preserve historical sites so to better teach younger generations the lessons of the past?
