The he Broward school districts repeated, emphatic and it turns out, false statements that Nikolas Cruz had not been in a controversial disciplinary program fit a pattern of an institution on the defensive and under siege.
Facing significant legal and political exposure over the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the district has tried to keep information from the public and put out untrue and misleading statements, frustrating parents who say this is the time for maximum transparency.

The worst came last week, when Runcie acknowledged that his forceful denials that Cruz had been involved in the Promise program, which is intended to provide an alternative to the arrest of students for minor offenses, were wrong. The district had repeatedly dismissed as fake news suggestions that Cruz was in the program.
Let’s see if the other media do some journalism.
Journalism is anathema to news organizations.
The program worked. Their website states that their goal is to keep the juveniles out of the justice system!
Whereas the Miami Herald has been quite the laggard and appears to be highly sympathetic towards the pathetic 'leaders' there!
I recall reading an article by Brit Hume not long after the tragedy in which he mentioned that the families of those who died or who were injured should be very careful about the type of legal representation or counsel that they seek because there are that good many Democrat lawyers there who will ultimately protect ones like Runcie and Israel in the way that Hillary and Obama are protected.
Broward county is so corrupt , regardless if it is the school district, to the Sheriff Dept, to we all know the voting.
There has to be an investigation into how corrupt that county is , and it is a disgrace to FL that we have that as a county.
Their dishonesty hasn’t stopped Broward Schools from requesting a big budget increase. Never let a crisis go to waste.
We’re staying with friends in FLL and I read this in the paper this A.M. There’s even a pro-Trump political cartoon. I thought I was reading an Onion spoof of the Sun-Sentinal.
Why hasn’t Rick Scott suspended or fired Israel? Why hasn’t the school board fired Runice? (OK, I know the answer to that one).
Closed the school-to-prison pipeline, opened the school-to-cemetery pipeline.
Yuger, should be yuger.
District officials and the sheriff should be charged with criminal negligence that facilitated the murder of 17 individuals.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

SUN SENTINEL EXCERPT---Facing significant legal and political exposure over the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shootings, officials in charge of the district has tried to keep information from the public and put out untrue and misleading statements, frustrating parents who say this is the time for maximum transparency.
=================================
Parents should demand Sun Sentinel "follow the money" to get all the answers.
<><> Obama gave Broward got $53 million federal tax dollars for keeping down the arrest rate of criminal students. Can officials account for all that money?
<><> it is commonplace for a Congressman to assist its district in securing federal monies.
What part did Broward resident, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, play in securing the $53 million?
<><> Sheriff Israel controls a $750 million dollar budget? Can he account for the outlays?
<><> Supt Runcie is sitting on a $800 million school bond issue that he refuses to spend. Why is that?
The adults are now in it.
I am so sick and tired of just about Every last Public Employee, Public Servant, Civil Servant constantly LYING TO THE PUBLIC. What we need is a New Law:
Any private citizen or legal US resident, that can articulate a reasonable suspicion that a Public Employee, Public Servant or Officer of the Court, has made deliberate false statements during the course of their professional duties, or the the Public, Shall be Entitled to damages equal to, but not less than the maximum monetary award available in civil small claims court.
Sadly, Broward County is part of a long list of RAT-run counties across the country where their “failed programs” get “shuffled out of view” when they show the people just what abject failures they are. It’s always about protecting guilty RATs in their governments, especially the teachers and the cops, and paying all of them far beyond their worth. Just look at Runcie’s “compensation” as a prime example. This guy should be a janitor at one of his schools.
“I am so sick and tired of just about Every last Public Employee, Public Servant, Civil Servant constantly LYING TO THE PUBLIC. What we need is a New Law:”
Yes, and their only “sin” is getting caught at it!
