The FBI/DOJ/Obama/Hillary figured that if they were able to stay on top of the Trump campaign strategy, they’d be able to be a step ahead of everything he did, and then beat him. And why not, it worked great against Romney - they flipped that around virtually overnight.
The problem with Trump’s strategy was that only Trump knew it, and they still can’t read brainwaves. So all they got was White Noise...what they thought was mass confusion, when it was simply a disinformation campaign by Trump.
But nice try on the part of the Deep State - with any other Republican, that level of domestic spying would have sunk their campaign.

Any private enterprise that engaged in activity similar to that of the FBI would have been shut down and its officers jailed.
ANY first step to cleaning up the mess that FBI is currently is to disband the intelligence apparatus, followed by legislation barring the FBI from engaging in spying on ALL American citizens.
The answer to “why they did it” is clear. The Communist were not about to lose this time around. Ole’ Joe McCarthy cut short their coup attempt last time, so this time they were going for broke, and broke is all she wrote. No getting off easy and running back into their holes to hide this time around. The bastards need to be rounded up, hung or put behind bars for a long, long time.

Anyone who has ever worked inside a large government bureaucracy soon realizes that that bureaucracy's only real mission is to protect itself.
That is why congressional oversight is so essential. But even then, most hearings on the Hill are just political theater and not intended to really hold anyone accountable. Their only concern is re-election.

And he has been nauseating in his defense of Mueller & co. I have told him so many times during his show via direct email link. When he gets on these subjects I tell him I’m switching over to Milwaukee traffic and weather.

He used the IRS to harass the Tea Party, the FBI to wiretap James Rosen from FOX News and the Associated Press, the DOJ to target political enemies like Dinesh DeSousa, he used his pen & phone to grant status to illegal aliens, he allowed perverts into the bathroom of their choice, all (and much more) with the general aim to destroy American culture.

Senior agent Peter Strzok was reassigned and demoted. The former FBI director's chief of staff, James Rybicki, resigned. Mike Kortan, FBI assistant director for public affairs, took retirement. Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr was reassigned and demoted. Justice Department's counterintelligence head, David Laufman, resigned. A cadre of others "unexpectedly" have left, allegedly (or conveniently) for private-sector jobs. Such career implosions do not happen without cause.
