Anyone who has ever worked inside a large government bureaucracy soon realizes that that bureaucracy's only real mission is to protect itself.

That is why congressional oversight is so essential. But even then, most hearings on the Hill are just political theater and not intended to really hold anyone accountable. Their only concern is re-election.

So we are left with electing a president to do the job.

TERM LIMIT the b@$t@rd$ out. Two terms in the house, out. Two terms in the senate, out. Require all political campaign contributions to be ANONYMOUS. They can't sell influence if they don't know who is buying.

Any American citizen or institution should be permitted to donate to any candidate or party they choose, in any amount they wish. That is FREEDOM. But anything promised, given or received in return for contributions is BRIBERY, a CRIME. Lock 'em up- both of 'em!
