For the first time since humans have been monitoring, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have exceeded 410 parts per million averaged across an entire month, a threshold that pushes the planet ever closer to warming beyond levels that scientists and the international community have deemed safe.
The reading from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii finds that concentrations of the climate-warming gas averaged above 410 parts per million throughout April.
In a statement on the milestone, Katharine Hayhoe, a climate scientist at Texas Tech University, said As a scientist, what concerns me the most is not that we have passed yet another round-number threshold but what this continued rise actually means: that we are continuing full speed ahead with an unprecedented experiment with our planet, the only home we have.

Holy bat guano! I am making a sign for my ‘hood,,”This is a CO2 free zone.”
How’s that Volcano doing, Katharine? (THESE PEOPLE ARE PATHETIC.)
“Troubling “ oh nooos!
Oh my! Where do I send the check?
Hmmmm. I think I will go outside, and see if the sky is falling. 😁🙃😂
For the first time since humans have been monitoring,
...
Which is a tiny blip in the history of the Earth. We have many measurements from the past when the CO2 level was many thousands.
410 is actually very low compared to what it used to be.
I'm sure that the massive volcano that's currently erupting, had nothing to do with this.
“What’s Climate Change?”
“Everything is Climate Change!”
Putting the monitoring station next to an erupting volcano may not be by chance. Global warming scientists have been cherry picking data since the invention of the AGW panic.
Hmmmmmm.
Wasn't April of 2018 a month which included greatly increased activity and emissions from a volcano of the same name? You know, the same type of increased activity and emissions that are the typical precursors to a volcano eruption?
I'm sure the identical names are just a coincidence...
That's where you're wrong.
You see, the increased temperature of the atmosphere (or decreased... I forget... doesn't matter...) caused the earth to swell which allows magma to see up and poof! Volcanoes!
Chicken Little is a Marxist !!!
If it’s so bad, they should sway others with arguments and not dictates.
:: For the first time since humans have been monitoring, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have exceeded 410 parts per million averaged across an entire month ::
Let’s break this “news” down...scientifically.
^For the first time since humans have been monitoring^
[All of Human History started in 1959]
^atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have exceeded 410 parts per million averaged across an entire month^
[So, on some days the CO2 was less than 410 and on other days it was more than 410. How much less and how much more? If humans are continuously pumping CO2 into the atmosphere, what is causing these deviations?]
Another part that needs clarification: “The reading from the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii”
That’s all well and good but is that scientifically verifiable data relative to Peoria, Illinois?
Oops. Don’t I feel like an idiot.
It’s Kilauea that erupted earlier this month, nor Mauna Loa. Oh well, they’re very close to one another so the general principle is the same...
