Is Comey really that stupid? That statement seems to go a long way toward dismissing the dossier. Comey assumed Trump was a better liar then Comey.
The idea that he might be innocent of the charges doesn't seem to have occurred to Comey.

My assignment was to brief him on a small part of it that was salacious and personal. And my sense was, I didn't get a sense that he knew about those," he continued. His "assignment?" Who gives assignments to an FBI Director?

Such a feely, feely person....He pulls the same cr** in his memos
To: Sacajaweau
The Director of the FBI has only two bosses. The AG and the POTUS.
Unless he’s working with others in an unofficial capacity on some unauthorized off the books mission.

Well, we know he was working with “The Professor”....who is now one of his attorneys.

>>He was the head of the FBI....He had no boss.
No so. Per this org chart:
https://www.justice.gov/file/1047436/download
the head of FBI reports to the Deputy AG, who reports to the AG, who reports to the President.
The Deputy AG was/is Rosenstein.

And it would seem from reports and his own words that Clapper and Brennan were directing his actions as well. Two totally inappropriate relationships in that regard.

“My assignment...” This phrase is proof of a conspiracy against the President Elect of the United States. Donald Trump was his incoming BOSS. If James Comey was anything but a dirty traitor conspiring to overthrow the election, then his duty was to FULLY INFORM his BOSS the complete details of the dirty dossier. Instead, he let it be published on Buzzfeed about 24 hours later, and left the POTUS blindsided. Only months later did we all learn what Comey knew months before the Trump meeting, but concealed from him and from the FISA court; that Clinton/DNC paid for the dossier.
More galling is Comey’s statement that he pleaded to keep his job by telling President Donald Trump he would never lie or doing anything weaselly to him. I bet Trump saw through him clear as glass.
To: Sacajaweau
Comeys screwing up....My assignment means that the head of the FBI was taking orders from who. He was the head of the FBI....He had no boss. Yup. Us ing the phrase "my assignment" is a big fat tell. Someone else directed him.
To: Sacajaweau
‘My assignment’...I want to know exactly WHO gave him that assignment.

Thank you for posting that chart. I left out the Dep. AG when describing the FBI Director’s superiors. Neither the CIA (Brennan) nor the DNI (Clapper) are located anywhere in that chart of DoJ subordinates and neither do either of those offices/agencies have any authority over the DoJ.
Who gave Comey this “assignment?”

I concede.....
My problem is Clapper appears to have been giving Comey orders.
To: mac_truck
Is that a fact!? Comey’s big mouth is going to sink their ship.
Presuming that there is someone in the DoJ with the integrity to pursue them.

The Deputy AG was/is Rosenstein.Rosenstein assumed office as the Dep. AG on April 26th 2017 so he was not the Dep. AG when Comey briefed Trump at Trump Towers Dana Boente was.

Not a problem. We’ve got dozens of shady characters to keep track of in this saga.

My assignment was to brief him on a small part of it that was salacious and personal His assignment?
From whom?
He was the head of the FBI answerable to the Attorney General and the President himself.
So who was giving him "assignments"?
Loretta Lynch?
Hillary Clinton?
James Clapper?
Barack Obama?
Valerie Jarrett?
Andy McCabe?
John Brennan?
