Former FBI Director James Comey said on Sunday that he did not believe President Trump was aware of the explosive allegations made against him in the "Steele dossier."
Comey briefed Trump on the unverified document, compiled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, last year.
"When you told him the contents of the Steele dossier, did you get the impression it was the first time he'd ever heard those allegations?" NBC's Chuck Todd asked Comey on "Meet the Press."
"Yes," Comey said, "And I didn't give him the briefing on the whole Steele dossier. My assignment was to brief him on a small part of it that was salacious and personal. And my sense was, I didn't get a sense that he knew about those," he continued.

Lying, liars, lie. Nothing that spews for this man’s mouth is worthy of 1 nanosecond’s consideration.
Calculated POS! Nothing genuine or authentic about this man. So hoping he gets his time behind bars.
Does anybody know where to get one of those long wooden canes with a hook at the end to pull vaudeville acts off the stage when the audience got sick of them?
I think one was last used when Al Gore wouldn’t leave and kept babbling “count every vote, make every vote a counted vote”, for an hour straight ,in Florida.
Comey and the Hill continue to spread the lies about the fake Russian dossier.
These people are desperate.
Is Comey really that stupid? That statement seems to go a long way toward dismissing the dossier.
“My assignment was “
So why did they not leak these allegations BEFORE the election? Because Hillary was going to win, and they only used the dossier so they could spy on political opponents. Why is there no one prosecuting this yet?
Who gave him the assignment to brief President Trump on the dossier, or only parts of the dossier? Had to be AG Lynch, no ??
‘These people are desperate.’
They’re not desperate. They’re out of control. They have seen that the Rosenstein DOJ only targets Trump and his associates, so the Trump-haters are having a field day.
It was Clapper or Brennan. They didn’t want to tell him anything beyond the salacious stuff because they didn’t want to tip him off to the whole of their treason just yet. And they wanted to leak to the media in order to get ahead of his reaction to what he would know to be outrageous lies.
So President Elect Trump says he wants that garbage to be looked into because it is untrue, and he wants it known that it is untrue. And we have a SC now.
Last time out they asked if he thought the pee allegations were true. Comey said....it's possible.
But when Trump asked Comey to verify it....he told the President....NO!!
I think I read Clapper or Brennan sent Comey. I can’t remember where or when I read that.
Comey’s screwing up....”My assignment” means that the head of the FBI was taking orders from who. He was the head of the FBI....He had no boss.
His memos bear the same type of notation of his first meeting...."I then executed the sessions exactly as I had planned".
I read it was Clapper. He was working at CNN and they needed a reason to report on the dossier, they needed an “event” that included the dossier. By having Comey brief the President, Clapper was able to immediately notify CNN of the event and that’s when they reported the story to the public.
Bingo. Digging with a backhoe now.
I wouldnt call it explosive. Maybe implosive.
Comey was head of the FBI and the only person that can assign him to do this briefing was the attorney general Loretta Lynch probably in conjunction with Brennan and Clapper. An illegal cabal is what they are and none of this would have been done without the approval of Obama.
well duh, how would he know since it was made up?
Geebus, Sherlock...and you were running the FBI?
