The Justice Department has notified immigration judges that it will begin evaluating their job performance based on how quickly they close cases, setting quotas for the first time.
The new rules, laid out in a message sent Friday to immigration judges, aim to speed up the handling of cases and reduce the significant backlog in the immigration courts. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and other Justice Department officials say the backlog at the immigration courts delays the processing of individuals subject to removal from the U.S.

“Unlike judges in regular courts, immigration judges work for the executive branch of government, in this case the Justice Department”
Stable Genius.
Seriously, this is a Monday morning win.
Let’s see...700 cases a year...fewer than 300 immigration judges hearing cases...backlog of 650,000 cases...math still doesn’t work. Instead of 300 judges hearing 700 cases a year how about 700 judges hearing 700 cases a year? Or 1000 judges hearing 700 cases a year? Or is the administration not interested in real solutions to the problem?
Session and Trump are perfect for each other. Jeff is methodical, iron clad and doesn’t need to be on the evening news while Trump is the freelancer, wild-card.
Trump tweets about Sessions but he is still around. Others have come and gone.
This is the sort of swamp draining which takes time. Hopefully they have reviewed every angle because this will make lib heads explode. Glory!!!
Someone must have given Jeff a triple Espresso today.
Waiting for court injunction on judicial quotas....
Winning as long as the progressives among that judge corps dont start granting amnesty willy-nilly. The burden of proof needs to be on these lying aliens!
If we are serious about deporting all of these invaders, it sure would help to have some sort of barrier, partition or WALL to keep them from turning around and trotting on back in.
It would also help to have a Congress that funded that idea beyond a gesture.
“how about 700 judges hearing 700 cases a year?”
Where are we gonna get 700 judges at short time, who are NOT liberal and will do their jobs? THis is the gubmint’ we are talking about.
Even as an employer in a PRIVATE production company, we are having a hard time hiring the right person and believe me, we are close to placing “must be right wing, hates obama and every liberal, do the job systematically, not a slacker and smart enough to be trained at a short time.” just to ge this over with. Time is money...
Good.
It’s time to have some assessment of these judges and evaluate their performance.
I like it!
How about lawyers in the military are sworn in as immigration judges and court hearings take place at military bases? Have the military pay all the cost and don’t need any new appropriations from Congress.
I’ve read the articles in thE LAT how ICE operates. Homan made sure that the illegals are escorted far...FAR away from the nearest city into max fed detention centers. The reason is to make sure the immigration lawyers have a hard time travelling there.
It’s not that we cant catch them faster. It’s how to legally kick them out as fast as we can catch them. If we have them go to military bases, their lawyers will still have access to them.
Well if the current judges are going to be graded on how many cases they clear in a year then I'm expecting a certain percentage will be fired for cause, adding to the backlog. Might as well bite the bullet and ramp up recruitment as quickly as they can. These are civil court judges. They can be hired and fired at will. They don't need senate approval.
These judges should average about 12 cases a day even with a generous 164 days off a year.
300 (judges) x 12 (cases) x 200 (work days) = 7,200,000.
If the bottle neck are not enough scribblers to support the higher case load hire more court scribblers.
Build a wall. Stop the flow. The backlog will be whittled down quickly.
Build the wall. Sop the flow.
