Another college bans men from the gym so ‘people of other genders feel safe’
College Fix ^ | MARCH 26, 2018 | GREG PIPER

Colleges keep designating spaces as off-limits to men, only to backtrack when someone files a formal complaint or their curious interpretation of inclusivity falls under the harsh glare of the less-woke public.

The latest is the Claremont Consortium’s Pitzer College, which apparently didn’t learn from Stanford’s short-lived no-men weight lifting hours.

The Residence Life office at Pitzer organized a “women and non-binary people’s gym day” at the Gold Student Center Friday, banning men during the high-traffic hours of 2 to 5 p.m.

The intent was to make “people of other genders feel safe to explore the gym, learn about the equipment, or just workout in a man-free space” according to the event listing. It doesn’t mention transgender students, presumably including men who identify as women under the banner of “women.”

The Claremont Independent reports that the organizers haven’t explained “why women and non-binary individuals have difficulty exercising with men, if there have been any incidents in the gym where men have made other genders feel uncomfortable, and where Pitzer males will work out during that closure.”

The paper said male students at Pitzer had to use a gym on its sibling Pomona campus, a 20-minute walk, if they wanted to work out between 2 and 5 on Friday:

There has been no indication whether the school or resident advisors plan to continue allotting hours for women and gender non-binary peoples.

Public spaces that exclude men (however defined) are legally problematic, as University of Michigan-Flint economist Mark Perry has written.

There are only 2 sexes.

Genders, like race, are subjective and innumerable.

And if progs think women and transgenders require safe spaces to work out, how in HADES are they supposed to serve and fight in the military?!

You’re welcome.

I’m female and FWIW, this safe space cr@p infuriates the living heck outta me. It’s freaking insulting. We’ve come a long way, baby. NOT.

Once we do, wait a few cycles and they will probably have killed themselves off by debating gender pronouns while the life support systems were breaking down for lack of maintenance

'Twas many a year ago, but when I was in college, the usage of the gym was at least 20-1 male. The basketball courts, all men. The weight room, all men. A few women might be circling the indoor track. There would be a few more women at the swimming pool, but not many. I only visited the handball and racquetball courts a couple of times, but I don't recall any women. Etc.

Women probably work out a bit more nowadays, mostly running, but from casual and episodic observances, it's not changed much. Check out the basketball courts, both indoors and outside. Check out the pickup games of various sports. Walk around the student gym. You still see very, very few women playing sports for the fun of it. You will see this if you by chance visit a college campus, but you will also see it around your own neighborhood. The girls simply aren't out there in large numbers. Good for those who are, but the gender imbalance is overwhelming.

Should have had a lot of men going in and when they tried to turn them away, ask, "What makes you identify me as a man?"

Maybe their only answer would be "Because you don't look like a freak...."

I’ve joined (and quit) a lot of gyms in my time. My observation has been that, typically, the muscle heads really don’t care what the fatter, more out of shape people (like me) are doing. They are there to work out and go home. The fat and out of shape people are the ones judging everyone.

I’m guessing most of the men there couldn’t care less who else is there.

... but it’s ok for them to use the ladies’ bathroom so long as they claim to be women.

The lunatics are running the asylum.

I wonder why the media isn't touting the term "androphobia" (fear of men) as an epithet... we get called xenophobe for recognizing that many non-Americans want to kill us... we get called homophobe for not wanting to celebrate and join gay men... we get called misogynistic for not liking Hillary's policies... we get called racist for not handing over everything we own to the nearest person with a higher melanin content than we have...

So why isn't this obvious dislike of "toxic masculinity" slighted by its proper term? Oh, that's right... phobia's are irrational fears, and the Left sees this psychotic hatred as perfectly rational. SMH

Time for male athletes to go Galt.

And excellent and rational idea, if the Left cared about the universities, or about logic or consistency or fairness... but they do not. They are more than happy to see every American institution come crumbling down into ruin for being stupid enough to cater to their whims. See Missouri University in 2016. 700 jobs lost, numerous student housing buildings closed, enrollment is down 23%, and black enrollment is down 35%

Their only consistent motivation, across every section of the Left, is that their policies slow down or end any traditional or successful American enterprise. Period. Even when we bow to their whims, like green energy, and turn those into successful ventures, then they begin opposing what they originally pushed for. Wind turbines are now "Bird Choppers". Hydroelectric dams are now hated for "wiping out fish species and ecosystems". Solar panels are eyesores. Clinton's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" was urged by the LGBT crowd, who now vilifies it. They care nothing about their own ideas or programs. Their only consistent focus is diminishing American energy, productivity, success, education, power, unity, egalitarianism, military combat effectiveness, etc. There is nothing else that their policies produce. Nothing.

“Men that identify as men are treated differently from men that identify as women.”

That’s because men that “identify” as women are insane and should be institutionalized.

Men and women both get drunk and have sex.

Gee...maybe they shouldn't do that.

(Hmmmm....where have I heard that before?)
