Poll finds attitude to ban on military-style weapons has striking age divide
Experts say finding could be driven by video games such as Call of Duty
A large majority of Americans say they support a ban on the sale of assault weapons, a category of politically controversial guns that includes the AR-15-style rifles that have become the weapon of choice for mass shooters.
Opposition to an assault weapon ban was strongest among Republicans and among self-identified registered voters 18-34, the poll found. Unlike older Americans, millennials were closely divided on their support for an assault weapon ban, with 49% supporting and 44% opposing a ban.

The idea that these school kids will be armed with rocks.....is insane. Imagine if 20 kids hurled their books and backpacks.
“Opposition to an assault weapon ban was strongest among Republicans and among self-identified registered voters 18-34, the poll found.”
This demographic has no illusions about both the unreported race war and the assault on individual liberties by our government.
Nice work but you might want to clip that “Getty Images” trademark out of it.
Did anyone ask the poll takers what an assault weapon is? Chances are they have no clue. It is a description dreamed up by gun hating leftists who also hate the constitution and see it as a road block to their plans for tyranny.
Great photoshopped picture... Where did you get it? I might put it on facebook...
I stopped at a gun store here in Northern Co. yesterday that I’ve never been to before because they carried mags for my CZ .22 rifle. I was buzzed in and behold, the walls were covered with every model and make of black rifle you could want. It was like Christmas and the two young men at the counter were very polite and helpful not like the a-holes at some of the other stores who studiously ignore you.
I asked them why weren’t at the gun march in Denver and one of them replied “were not those guys”, to which I smiled.
FWIW, I’m a Vietnam vet boomer and the only guns I want to grab are those which I want in my gun safe. I am strictly don’t-give-an-inch concerning the Second Amendment.
“Vietnam surrenderist warfare brain wash”: interesting term which I assume refers to the antiwar peaceniks of the Vietnam era whom I hated then and hate now.
Again FWIW, I don’t accept lectures in morality about guns from a bunch of snotty little robots & I hope Congress doesn’t either, but that could be wishful thinking.
Incidentally, I would love to see these smarmy know-it-all’s invade a weekend gun show. The footage would be popcorn worthy.
;^)
Don’t trust anyone under 30.
I whipped it up in in photoshop - use it at will.
The Left doesn't give a s**t about unalienable rights.
People here can yammer all they want about the Constitution and it won't mean diddly squat when Democratic candidates lose their fear of opposing assault weapons bans and are willing to support repealing the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act and allow gun manufacturers to be sued to bankruptcy. Meanwhile all the major financial institutions will follow Citi's lead and pull themselves out of any business that has to do with the sale and manufacture of "assault weapons" and related accessories.
There won't be any gun bans necessary. "Black rifles" will still be legal. There just won't be anyone selling them. Not worth the hassle.
This is the kind of crap we need to look out for because it'll sneak up behind us and we never saw it coming.
I applaud any brass-balled sign-carrying pro-2A marcher yesterday. There were a few. There should've been thousands.
No this one. Don't paint people with a broad brush.
Do you think suburban soccer mom in her minivan gives a s**t about what the pedantic definition of an assault weapon is?
"Does it look like an army gun?" she'll ask. "OK, let's ban it!" she'll say.
100% of Americans aged 18 to dying oppose weapons bans. Snowflake America haters support weapons bans.
Many older Freepers see video games as a negative (im 40), but they are a huge pro gun vehicle and have turned an entire generation of young Americans into staunch pro2A advocates. Its pretty cool.
