A large majority of Americans say they support a ban on the sale of assault weapons, a category of politically controversial guns that includes the AR-15-style rifles that have become the weapon of choice for mass shooters.
Opposition to an assault weapon ban was strongest among Republicans and among self-identified registered voters 18-34, the poll found. Unlike older Americans, millennials were closely divided on their support for an assault weapon ban, with 49% supporting and 44% opposing a ban.

Suicide is a language herring indeed. The suicidal is not in self preservation just as the criminal does not obey gun laws. Besides, in a country where antigun militantism is favored over kids receiving a future and education, what else will they do to make it in life later when all they have is militant skills?

So, the Hogg types know intuititvely they are screwed and are contemplating as a result suicide, which means they will blame or fear the gun, but the calling for suicide is tragically going to be theirs.
Frankly, sad to say, I’d rather them use a gun to shoot themselves. I have a short life and I am not ready to sacrifice my happiness over feeling sorry for arrogant mind numbingly stuck on stupid ambition pieces of sht like them

Only because they are the ones in the positions of power to write laws to do so because it appears there is a contingent of voters to pander for their votes so the over-50s can continue to get the DC/state capitol gravy they have become so fond of. In my experience, politicians are rarely shown to be really deep original thinkers. It’s generally limited to a very few in each generation. Think Churchill and decide who in current American politics could hold a candle to his ability to wrap his mind around the larger issue and bring clarity to the discussion.

the march near me contained about 300 people, yes some movement LOL and over 90% were old white people, and about 95% were from out of town.
And most likely to still be living at home.

I’m so happy that there was no internet when I was 18-34 years old. The war was basically over by the time I turned 18 in ‘72 and I didn’t see any reason to join especially the way it was run. I was always a patriot though and hated those creeps marching in the streets. Voted for Nixon a few days after I turned 18 when the new voting law came in (could never vote for McGovern). Later went to college and worked,got married twice,had kids. In other words I was too busy to get involved in politics. Later though, the only times I did was to protest illegal immigration.
