Under Trump, Elizabeth Warren Suddenly Discovers the Downside of Unaccountable.....

... Federal Agencies

If Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren had taken a page out of Virginia Delegate Nick Freitas' book, she might not be in the pickle she is today.

Warren (is spitting mad) at Mick Mulvaney, the Office of Management and Budget director who does double duty heading up an agency whose creation Warren championed: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB's previous director was an ideological ally of Warren. Since Mulvaney took over, Warren has ripped the agency's decisions. Warren (said) Mulvaney is giving "the middle finger" to consumers, and she (railed at) Mulvaney's indifferent response to the 10 (!) letters she has sent him demanding answers to more than 100 questions.

[snip]Time and again during debate over the CFPB, conservatives and libertarians (warned) that its (powers) were too great and that its accountability to the other branches of government was (too limited.) But that was just the way Warren and other supporters wanted things. Neither Congress nor other political forces could influence an unaccountable regulatory agency. Now Warren finds herself thwarted by the very lack of oversight she championed.

Be careful what you wish for.

You can't help but chuckle at Bocahontas tantrums....the image of the maligned Mick Mulvaney seems to be the look of a teacher to a demanding toddler............

Simple. The rip off financial institutions and funnel money to leftist power centers.

“Why does the CFPB even still exist?”

The GOP Congress continues to fund it and the GOP President continues to sign the spending bills.

Good question....I don’t know how that critter ever got her foot in the door but she did...She shouldn’t have been called a senator in Wikipedia as she wasn’t a senator until 2013. I would hope the whole idea will be thrown out along with the trashy building that has cost the taxpayers millions of dollars to remodel for housing this ridiculous agency...the employees are fleeing like “rats” from real “rats” and now the toxic fumes.. There isn’t anything left in DC that even resembles a functioning brain.
It’s a totally ridiculous agency and she rides it as well as Hillary always has the SCHIP program.

“”On September 17, 2010, President Obama announced the appointment of Sen. Warren as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to set up the new agency.[10][11] Due to the way the legislation creating the bureau was written, until the first Director was in place, the agency was not able to write new rules or supervise financial institutions other than banks.[4]

CFPB draws directly from the Treasury without going through Congress.

“CFPB draws directly from the Treasury without going through Congress.”

Ok. Congress can eliminate the agency or change its funding at any time. The unwillingness of the Congress to exercise oversight over this agency suggests the Republican members of Congress are satisfied with its funding and independence from oversight.
