Russia 'arming the Afghan Taliban', says US
BBC ^ | March 23, 2018 | Justin Rowlatt

Russia is supporting and even supplying arms to the Taliban, the head of US forces in Afghanistan has told the BBC.

In an exclusive interview, Gen John Nicholson said he'd seen "destabilising activity by the Russians."

He said Russian weapons were smuggled across the Tajik border to the Taliban, but could not say in what quantity. Russia has denied such US allegations in the past, citing a lack of evidence...

"We see a narrative that's being used that grossly exaggerates the number of Isis [Islamic State group] fighters here," Gen Nicholson told BBC News. "This narrative then is used as a justification for the Russians to legitimise the actions of Taliban and provide some degree of support to the Taliban."

"We've had stories written by the Taliban that have appeared in the media about financial support provided by the enemy. We've had weapons brought to this headquarters and given to us by Afghan leaders and said, this was given by the Russians to the Taliban," he continued. "We know that the Russians are involved." ... He believes this direct Russian involvement with the Taliban is relatively new. He says Russia has conducted a series of exercises on the Afghan border with Tajikistan. "These are counter terrorism exercises," says Gen Nicholson, "but we've seen the Russian patterns before: they bring in large amounts of equipment and then they leave some of it behind."

The implication is that these weapons and other equipment are then smuggled across the border and supplied to the Taliban.

The general admits it is hard to quantify how much support Russia is actually giving the Taliban, but senior Afghan police officers and military figures have told the BBC that it includes night vision goggles, medium and heavy machine guns as well as small arms.

"This activity really picked up in the last 18 to 24 months," he replied. "Prior to that we had not seen this kind of destabilising activity by Russia here. When you look at the timing it roughly correlates to when things started to heat up in Syria. So it's interesting to note the timing of the whole thing."

Interesting. we are interfering with Russia’s Syrian war, so Russia is interfering with our Taliban war.

With all the international tension, the various wars, the Chinese buildup, the Norks going mad, the illegals entering our country, the EU being flooded with undesirables. Our 2A rights being threatened.

My point is, as a world, we are being set up for mass violence in the form of both global war and civil insurrections all over the place.

History is just repeating itself. WWIII here we come!

The Russians are Coming!! The Russians are Coming!! Let's spend another 18 years blowing up things that then have to be replaced in that crazy place.

President Trump should've ended our involvement when he decided on just a little more time. Afghanistan's leaders are a globalist puppet show, unsupported and unloved by their population.

You must love ISIS because Russia and Syria have not done much against them, especially compared to what the Kurds and US led coalition has done.

Makes sense, the Russians are helping out the head choppers.

WW3 here we come!

We're already in WW3. Historians (if there is history) will discuss what was the opening shot. They might decide it's a never ended war, begun with the assassination of the Czar. At this point, the Globalists, led by Germany with their bankers and elitists, are winning this phase.

Assad-hole has been creating the refugee crisis, so it is our business, the Putin Stooges come out with their garbage as usual, Russia, a country that can’t even have its athletes in the Olympics because of doping, Russia, a country where fast-food workers make more than doctors. https://themoscowtimes.com/news/russian-doctors-paid-less-than-fast-food-workers-57667
Yeah, Ukraine sure wanted to be part of a country like that, so had a coup, what a joke.

Wait. Didn't the Russians fight against the Taliban at one point in time?

Oh, right, I remember now. It was around the same time the U.S. was arming the Taliban...

Oh, how I wish we had listened to George Washington when he exhorted us to avoid foreign entanglements.

Russia’s economy, living conditions are a basket case, Russia can’t be trusted, they probably help North Korea too. Don’t trust the pro-Putin people. Russia would stab us in the back at any time. We’ve played both sides too, in the past, we aren’t perfect either.

“Prior to that we had not seen this kind of destabilising activity by Russia here.”

Isn’t that just what we did to Russia/USSR when they were trying to conquer Afghanistan 2-3 decades ago?

That makes zero sense. Why would the Russians arm the Taliban who drove them out of Afghanistan and trained the Chechen Islamic Radicals? Apparently Putin has learned nothing from the CIA arming the Mujaheddin.

ISIL was created by the invasion of Iraq and the civil war in Syria, both sponsored by US/UK/EU.

It’s an inconvenient truth for McCrazie.

Just like Carter, Regan, GHWB and Clinton and Hollywood used to do... Didn't Monica Lewinsky had something to do with the about face.

The migrant crisis was caused by the “Syrian rebels” supported by the Saudis, Qatars, yes the USA and France too .

Payback for the U.S. arming the mujahideen? Most likely.

You are not the only one who is thinking along those lines as these have been my thoughts all along. It seems as if there is something in the water world wide and it may just take some major event, good or bad to bring people back down to earth.
