Reddit has become the latest social-media platform to admit that Russian propaganda was used on its site during the 2016 US presidential election.
It follows leaks from news site The Daily Beast showing a Russian troll farm active on the website.
Co-founder Steve Huffman said that it had removed "a few hundred accounts" suspected of being of Russian origin.
In a blogpost, he said "indirect propaganda", which was more complex to spot and stop, was the biggest issue.
"For example, the Twitter account @TEN_GOP is now known to be run by a Russian agent. Its tweets were amplified by thousands of Reddit users, and sadly, from everything we can tell, these users are mostly American and appear to be unwittingly promoting Russian propaganda."

By the way, “Russian Propaganda” is merely a modern term of art. It means, something online that we don’t like and cannot control.
What about ChiCom propaganda? Or from Mexico, EU, etc.? Foreign propaganda has affected leftists for decades, including “Mr. International Law Precedent” Justice Breyer.
So, are Russians not allowed to post on Reddit?
How about George Soros propaganda. This is getting ridiculous.
Said BBC, which is British propaganda. . .
Does the include the sub-reddit “The Donald?” Reddit tried to shut them down the entire campaign, and they’re pretty sharp cookies.
All this is a pretense for oppression.
Reddit’s “The_Donald” is growing ever more popular and the leftist thugs at Reddit are looking for an excuse to shut it down.
So far no-one I know has every mentioned the “Russians” publicly this year.
But, when they do, I am ready with my comeback.
“Everyone, let’s stop what we are doing and look between your legs. Anyone see any Russian trolls?”
Yeah, a pretty weird standard now, that only citizens of particular countries apparently are allowed to post Internet commentary on politics in their country.
I can't imagine any Russian propaganda being something that we already didn't know.
So there isn’t anyone from foreign countries allowed to have an opinion on the internet?
“So there isnt anyone from foreign countries allowed to have an opinion on the internet?”
Of course they are...as long as its supportive of liberal ideology.
>> Foreign propaganda has affected leftists for decades, including Mr. International Law Precedent Justice Breyer.
This is a super important point and needs to be repeated. The leftists especially need to be reminded of this. And by “reminded” I mean they need to have it rammed down their throats.
They lie “less” than CNN / MSM presstitutes. Sad we have to research our own facts to dissect the data and even then ...... truth is elusive as a three balled cat these days.
Hope yer well .... Stay Safe !
I love Reddit_The_Donald!
They are a great group of young freedom fighters that are inquisitive and cynical.
It reminds me of a small upstart website 25 years ago called Freerepublic, but they have Pepe too.
Exactly. The majority of Reddit is uptight, white liberals who get upset when someone has a different opinion than theirs. These people with different opinions are now called "Russian bots".
Agree. Just an excuse to shut down The_Donald :(
Did you check the article? Russians pretended to be Tennessee Republican Party. It has been in the news before. The real Tennessee Republican Party had to write 3 complaints to Twitter and it took over a year before the fake one was taken down. Russians also pretended to be various Black Lives Matter chapters and also various pro-Police organizations and many more trying to organize fights.
