A federal judge in Maryland on Monday dismissed a challenge to President Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

"This Court does not like the outcome of this case, but is constrained by its constitutionally limited role to the result that it has reached," Judge Roger Titus said in his opinion. "Hopefully, the Congress and the President will finally get their job done."

I think you read wrong. The ruling was against the people who want to keep DACA.

Wasn’t it Trump who gave it the 6 month drop dead date when he turned back over to the legislature?

Judge Titus is a reasonable man. We’ve had some issues come before him over the years. Always been fair minded in my opinion.
Don’t know why he chose to add his personal view. I guess because he can.

These democrats are sick.

It makes me want to puke to see the massive numbers of illegals , Muslims and other 3rd world socialist vermin invading America to vote for democrats/socialism

And it should anger anyone with a brain or the basic knowledge that socialism will lead to destruction

Thank you for that tip. So because of the Sunset law that all of Congress is aware of, the Democrats not taking Trumps DAKA offer and not working on it for the last few months are 100% responsible for the deportations!

He should have refrained from giving his own personal comments on the issue, but at least knows he’s a member of the judicial branch and cannot make executive or legislative policy decisions from the bench despite how he personally feels about the issue. This is far different than some of the rulings by other judges including orders that an Executive Order must be reinstated - that is an impeachable offense as far as I am concerned and grounds for disbarment from the practice of law.

Partner, u are exactly correct.

We have way too many liberal judges that do not know the law as far as "Immigration" is concerned. This one judge stated it correctly.

The Supreme Court also know that Immigration is decided by the legislative branch and the POTUS period. End of story.

Exactly. I never heard about a sunset clause in the original 0bama EO.

“The President’s job is to enforce the laws.”

Speaking of which, DACA now no longer exists. Yesterday was Congress’ last day to fix it. So when do the mass deportations start?

Yeah, who the hell does he think he is to insert his personal opinion. Then again he did the right thing to acknowledge that it is not the courts issue.

Let me dig back. I may be in error on 3/5/18.
My thoughts take me to obamugabe signing the EO and saying it is only temporary so that Congress can codify it later. Could be Trump set the date to push Congress into doing their job?
I’ll need to go back to the signing statement tonight.

My issue wasn’t with the ruling, it was with his personal opinion that came with it. If he believes flooding the country with illegals doesn’t bother him PERSONALLY, he has no business being on the bench.

I believe the sunset clause idea comes from Obama’s EO which didn’t give a set end date, but specified that is was only a temporary measure. So the idea was it would end eventually, ‘hopefully’ when Congress passed legislation making it a law.

Trump just took his pen and said yup, that temporary is now up, it’s not Constitutional, but I’ll give y’all some time to figure it out. The bonus time he let them have is what ended now.

The president has refused to back a number of bipartisan proposals to extend the program

What does it matter if Trump, or any President, "backs" a proposal?

This is not the Westminster system. The President is not a Member of Congress.

Congress: Do your damn job! Pass a bill, or don't.

If you DO pass a bill, THEN we can see if the President "signs" it or not. What the President "backs" is not part of the system.

I’ll be honest with you, Madam, I hesitated posting that because this is a relaxed, casual forum and I know many people are in a hurry to say what is on their minds, so I have no problem with bumpy sentences.

But this was a JUDGE, professional who’s spoken and written words are the tools of the trade, so I went for it.

Thanks so much for agreeing.
