It is doubtful that the proposed rule would have made a difference in mass shootings.

No, the only thing they’ll accomplish is violating their oath.
Yeah, it’s not like friends or family would ever skirt age restricted purchases on anything.
Alcohol, dope, cigarettes . . .
And it’s still true . . .If Guns are Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Have Guns
This POS would have found the black market, he was that determined.
Just like the Ft Hood Muzzie.
Can they raise the age when weapons are stolen?
Should help.....After all, we know drugs and alcohol are not used by minors. /s/
Ouch !
don’t forget underage sex....
They had better raise the minimum voting age along with it.
Logically unsound to say that someone cannot be trusted with firearms, yet can depended upon to cast an informed vote or to serve on a jury.
We aren’t discussing the role pharmaceutical companies have played in the epidemic of addicted and dangerous/delusional users of their poisons. One can only conclude that the pharmaceutical companies own DC swampthings who are supposed to be solving the problem.
So 2% of murders are a result of rifles, and likely a substantially lower percentage by the “scary” looking “assault rifles”. The left relies on Fake information to push all of their anti-freedom causes, and the GOP-e and, sadly this time, the President have fallen for this ruse. Fight fear with facts. Never apologize. Never surrender.
Only if they raise the voting age at the same time.
Congress could save lives by making abortion illegal.
But perhaps the goal isn’t actually “saving lives”.
Perhaps the goal is simply “disarming We The People”.

Yup, if Congress wants to raise the age to purchase a long gun to twenty one then the age of majority should be raised to twenty one. And, eligibility to enter the military should be raised to twenty one as well. We are willing to put a nineteen year old in an Abrams Tank, ask him to make multiple life and death decisions in seconds, put his own life in harms way. Then, tell him, sorry bub, youre not trustworthy enough to buy a long gun till youre twenty one. Epitimy of hypocrisy if you ask me.
No.
Raising the age to get guns to 21 years old is nothing more than political horse manure. The government failed to do their job and 17-21 year olds are the scapegoats. Yet, the country is quick to arm young kids to go out to fight and die for their country. On this one, the feeling here, is Trump is wrong.

In only one case did the perp legally purchase the firearm used in their shooting.
In Sandy Hook, Lanza killed his mother in order to obtain his firearms, and going all the way back to Columbine, Harris and Klebold illegally purchased their weapons.
So the answer to the question is probably not.
Has Congress prevented drug deaths by passing laws?
No!
