Dick's Sporting Goods Ends Sale Of Assault-Style Rifles, Citing Florida Shooting

Dick's Sporting Goods, one of the largest sports retailers in the U.S., has announced it is immediately ending its sales of assault-style rifles and requiring all customers to be older than 21 to buy a firearm at its stores.

Additionally, the company will no longer sell high-capacity magazines.

CEO Ed Stack announced the decision ABC's Good Morning America on Wednesday, the same day survivors of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are returning to class. Stack said the 19-year-old gunman allegedly behind that massacre, which claimed 17 lives and wounded many more in Parkland, Fla., had actually purchased a firearm from the retailer last November.

And he said that while the weapon — a shotgun — was not used in the shooting, the revelation deeply affected Stack and his colleagues at Dick's.

Uh, didn't we already go through this with "dicks" before? No loss for me. We got Scheels, Cabelas, Sportsmans Warehouse and a bunch of other retailers to use. What a bunch of puds. But, it's their store so.................

Yes, they did it before. I guess Dick’s must’ve quietly returned the popular stuff to the display racks since then, but I can’t say when - I haven’t darkened their door since their last capitulation.

There is an actual gun store half a mile from the dickheads here. Plus dicks caters to the suburbanite Subaru crowd anyhow.

Academy is run by good people and has much better prices. Plus, Academy wholeheartedly supported the first responders during Harvey.

Here’s a strategy that needs to go viral:

Load up your cart with $1000’s worth of merchandise and then go to the fire arms department. Ask for an “assault-style” (whatever that is) rifle. When they tell you about the policy, look shocked and angry and leave your potential purchase in the cart and walk out.

Doing this enough will get their attention.

I have had some business dealings with this company.

Let’s just say that they live up to their name better than anyone I’ve ever done business with.

They don’t sell “Scary Rifles” in most stores anyway. I would never buy from them because their prices are high to begin with.

No, it will just irritate some schmuck assistant manager making $38K per year. Believe me, I used to have that job, and nobody in upper management listens to you.

Another David Hogg victory.
Companies are terrified of him as are politicians,

By years end he will be King of America.

Hey, what's wrong with my Subaru ?

Well, other than that pesky Transmission issue they've been keeping quiet about.

Hey, Subaru Owners out there: Websearch on Subaru Transmission issues. They will fix free of charge and are extending the warranty.

They did this after Sandy Hook. They also tried to screw us on a shotgun shell sale. We never went back. Bass Pro Shop and Academy Baby!
