BSO Admits Stoneman Douglas Guard "Never Went In" Building During Massacre

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School had an armed and trained police guard at the school the day Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students and teachers. People have since questioned why the guard wasn't able to stop Cruz from committing the massacre. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel solved that mystery minutes ago: BSO School-Resource Officer Scot Peterson "never went in" to confront Cruz as the shooting occurred.

Israel said he suspended Peterson without pay after reviewing video footage, witness statements, and Peterson's own statement. Peterson instead retired today to avoid further discipline.

When a BSO officer is told there's an active-shooter in a building, Israel said "we go in and address the target. That's what should have been done." Instead, he said Peterson waited "about four minutes" outside as Cruz murdered 17 people. The New York Times reported yesterday that a local Coral Springs Police officer who arrived on-scene noticed Peterson taking cover outside in a stairwell.

Israel said today that Peterson was inside an office dealing with a different student when the shooting began. The massacre lasted roughly six minutes.

This is more wrong from the national media: They are burying the lede: He is RETIRING with a taxpayer funded lifetime pension. For a bald faced act of COWARDICE. And the national media isn’t mentioning it. This should be THE LEDE!!!

“Retired”? No way, fire him! They need to do something to ensure he gets zero benefits. What an abject way to end his career. What is his name and pic? Let him go pump gas or work as night janitor or something. Disgrace.

No. There are so many adults to blame this on. Too many infact. The gun was innocent!

What does the chief do with a worthless officer? Send him out on drug raids? Put him on the SWAT team? No, that’s not a good idea; let’s make him the school safety officer. He should be able to handle that.

Cops are trained to wait for SWAT and kill any loose dogs. Cops have no duty to protect per the Supreme Court.

So the security guard “sheltered in place”? How could an armed person hide while a kid is wasting other kids? Pathetic.

Parents must demand there be more than one person with guns patrolling the schools.

Arming teachers is also a good idea.

Regarding a pension, the same thing should apply here as the availability of benefits to a dishonorable discharge from the military

The panel on FNC just went to the argument that an armed officer on-site made no difference in Florida.

So that will be the narrative now.
