Then find some very heavy rubber bands. A local store here had a big supply.
After I graduated to a rifle, some smart guy came along with a design with padded metal frame and used surgical tubing. Available in any good drug store. That one, if you have long arms is certainly lethal.

Maybe they can fashion a crossbow using available school materials, such as pencils, rubber bands and condoms. At least teach the kids how to defend themselves somehow, if they’re going to keep them disarmed.
