This is really bad. I mean, now where are social studies majors going to get jobs after college?
She’s probably the only conservative there. Her store is in a college town so it’s really insane.
She was glad that she was off the day after the election. She would have been the only one smiling in the store.
She also does her best to de-emphasize the placement of the more liberal and progressive homosexualized, Johnnie likes to be called Jane children’s books. There is one that’s particularly offensive. She keeps one on the shelf and twenty copies stored in the back somewhere.
Me too. There is a B&N near me that I visit at least once a month.
Maybe they'll remove some of that "Harry Potter" Lego crap and all the other damned toys...so that I can actually find a book.
They don't know what the hell they are...a toy store...a book store...or a shill for the swill from Starbucks.
To coin a phrase: "Shut up and let me read!".
I used to like to shop at Borders, which was near my home. They made similar business decisions. Once I was looking for some conservative magazines to take on an airplane trip. In their large magazine section, they did not carry one, while having a full complement of liberal rags. I wrote to Borders to inquire about it, and they wrote back that "we feel that conservatives tend to subscribe to magazines more than other people, and thus do not buy them in stores".
I miss Half.com. Music, books, videos...new & used...from 75 cents on up, shipping $3 per item. Great search engine, massive inventory, a “wish list” function, easy purchase method. It was a wonderful site. eBay owned it and closed it down last year. eBay wanted everything under the eBay.com website, but it didn’t incorporate the massive inventory into eBay...just killed the site and told sellers to reenter their listings. Sellers from Half.com have been slow to go to eBay.
I miss B. Dalton and Waldenbooks.
I miss Borders too.
Lowe’s did the same - got rid of all the department managers - the ones who knew a thing or two about their department - and replaced them with kids who know nothing but will work for minimum wage.
Years ago I went to a Borders to buy Ann Coulter’s latest book. It was on the NYT best seller list. I looked all over and couldn’t find it. I went to customer service. They guy told me to order it from Amazon.
That’s a poor business model — “Please take your business to our competitor”.
I’m guilty of that also. Many retail stores are just showrooms for Amazon and Wal-Mart now.
I’ve been known to visit a retail store, try on a pair of shoes or boots, find the right fit...go home and order online. When you can save 25%, get free shipping, have them in two days (with free return if they DON’T fit)....what’s a guy to do? Heck, I’ve purchased previous year’s Brooke’s shoes for half price at the Brooke’s site.
B&N is one of the anchor stores at my local mall and they’re always crowded. They’re open till 7 PM on Sundays even after the other stores close.
Your post is spot on.
I felt the same way about Borders too. They been gone a few years now but back when they competed against B&N, I often went there first.
uhhh... .i don’t think thats the problem here.
Two names I had totally forgotten.
> Preventing the sale of conservative books by either not carrying them or hiding them so the public cant purchase them <
I live in a very Democrat region. Republicans hold very few elective offices here. Anyway, my local Barnes & Noble puts Bill O’Reilly’s books front and center. I never quite figured that out.
Just know that you are helping Amazon kill that store (and all of the other brick and mortar stores) and conquer the world.
Me personally, I dont want to live in a world where Amazon decides what I can buy. Also, I like to go to stores. If no one buys things at stores there wont be any.
I agree and it’s the only reason I stop in.
I read the magazines I like and then leave...
OMG! What a graphic example of Googles anti-white agenda.
