Press Release (2013) The NAACP has brokered a groundbreaking collaborative agreement on school discipline with Broward County Public Schools, law enforcement and its community partners. The agreement will serve as a model for school districts nationwide that aim to end the school to prison pipeline wreaking havoc in communities of color.
The collaborative agreement establishes proven alternatives to arrest for misdemeanor infractions by students that include common sense approaches such as counseling and mentorship. The historic agreement leverages the support of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) and local law enforcement by reducing student suspensions, expulsions and arrests, while maintaining safe learning environments for students.
The agreement highlights the role of school officials in determining when student infractions warrant an arrest versus school disciplinary measures, particularly for minor misbehavior/offenses. The collaborative agreement is part of the national movement to end the schoolhouse to jailhouse pipeline.
Chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors Roslyn M. Brock praised the new agreement:[snip]
[Comment] This asinine program instituted in 2013 between the NAACP, Broward Schools and the Broward Sheriff's Office SHIELDED NIKOLAS CRUZ from being prosecuted for all of his crimes committed at school. Prior to this 2013 agreement, Cruz would have been subject to arrest by the BSO at Parkland HS.
Law enforcement was not informed that Nikolas Cruz was selling knives at the school cafeteria, bringing ammo to class, or engaging in assaults at Parkland High School because this asinine agreement forbids the school from informing local law enforcement. The agreement shields law-breaking students while on the school premises. Nikolas Cruz risked no legal consequences for his criminal behavior.
A big 'Shout-Out' and 'Thanks' to the NAACP and Broward County for paving the way for criminal youth to wreak havoc in Broward schools and community. The results of this program have been notoriously tragic and will be terribly expensive.
The parents and families of 17 dead innocents and countless others should realize that their school board's progressive and criminal stupidity precipitated this catastrophe. Hopefully these broken families will sue the NAACP and all who conspired to implement a system of juvenile lawlessness throughout the Broward County School District.
But we are just trying to protect all the scared children who lost their mothers and are orphans with undeveloped brains.
Add the adoption agency who provided Cruz to the list.
They placed a toddler and newborn (sensing a foreign born -Fetal Alcohol Syndrome type) into the household with a 62yr old father and 50yr old mother.
It’s just not right. The odds were all against them.
The timing is there, you may be correct.
But every commercial on TeeVee features a Black father shopping with his daughters or driving his attractive family around in the new Lexus and the kids act like he’s Dad! (it’s so confusing)
And that is the heart of the problem: Restorative justice focuses on the needs of the victims and the offenders, not punishment for correction.
But Blacks traditionally punished and disciplined their children. Now with minimal fatherhood, the males are completely running amok. It’s close to ‘Lord of the Flies.’
They threw away the rule book to accommodate unruly boys. The mothers are doing anything they can to prolong their sons’ first entry into prison. It’s illegal and unfair to the rest of the student population and the teachers that have to ‘look the other way’ and degrades the entire system.
They are exempting students from the school discipline code and from obeying the law.
I thought that only applied to black students.
Cops were called to his house numerous times. To put this all on the school is wrong. Plenty of blame to go around.
Every time I encounter the phrase “people of color” and its plural “communities of color” I know I have encountered a B.S. argument trying to address the SOCIAL failure of “people of color”.
The raw scientific fact is there are only a few genes in the human DNA chain that determines “color”. Even then there is only one sequence that produces dark color that justifies the phrase “people of color”.
So why is it that only that particular sequence is protected by the phrase “people of color.”?
“People of color” will continue to lag behind the rest of the world until they abandon this lie in attempts to justify their SOCIAL failures. The phrase “people of color” is a cop out; the lazy response in place of hard effort. My mom said it best - “Talk is cheap, effort ain’t”.

So glad that never happens to white people.
It has arrived at Seattle, and its county “Martin Luther King County” and is taking hold.
The west coast states are lost.
I wonder if the articulate polished youths they keep wheeling out (even on FNS) were picked and found by the Broward NAaCp. Or the national headquarters to shield them from the reality that their school to jail pipeline protection system caused young Cruz’s remarkable sailing through the safety nets that would normally have institutionalized him. Did Broward make the mistake of equating the school to jail guidelines to all students, instead of the chosen beneficiaries?
Hispanic (or Hispanic named) is the new 'black' as far as a government protected class. Turning into a sanctuary country ignoring crimes by them.
Save that webpage, because its likely to be deleted or sanitized later, after enough angry parents realize THIS SANCTUARY POLICY is the root cause of the massacre.
This school district should be bankrupted by lawsuits as a result of their policy.
Principal - LOL
Remember the “Principal” is your “pal”.
We had a new kid enroll in junior high in our small community about a month ago. This kid started taunting the other kids and telling them he was going to beat them up. Then he threatened a little girl telling her that tomorrow would be her last day because he was going to kill her. The female principal knew of these problems and told the kids they just needed to be nice to him since he was new at the school. LIBERAL MENTALITY ON PARADE.
Fortunately the local police found out and took the kid out of school and sent him to juvenile detention.

You weren’t supposed to notice.
This is the reason why the Broward County Public Schools did not do a risk assessment of Cruz when it was recommended by a high school administrator. The risk assessment would have involved the school district in contacting the police (which goes against this policy). Had the district contacted the police and found out that they were called to the Cruz home 39 times since 2010, they would have known clearly that he was a very high risk.
Although they made more visits to Nik Cruz’s home than the entire community of Parkland combined, the leaked description of the shooter was - “Red headed freckled faced white kid.”
He’s not a minor child, yet they withheld his name and true description.
