Russia Launches ‘Information’ War, U.S. Responds with Lawsuit and Self-Destruction
National Review ^ | 2/17/2018 | Andrew McCarthy

Mueller’s indictment is an ineffectual response to a provocation by Russia.

The Russians are engaged in “information warfare” against the United States. That was the big soundbite at Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s press conference Friday afternoon, announcing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s election-meddling indictment against 13 Russians and three Russian businesses.

That is certainly a fair assessment of what the indictment alleges. The account is disturbing, but its form leaves many of us underwhelmed. Our government says Russia is levying war. It is attacking a foundational institution — the electoral system of our democratic society and, more basically, our society’s cohesion as such. Our response should not be, nor appear to be, the filing of a lawsuit. That is provocatively weak.

Mueller face-saving tactic is hurting our country. Also, the FBI seems to be so involved with Trump bashing that they've lost the ability to conduct basic law enforcement investigations -- as in response to the school shooting threats.

The activity was so minor that it seems not worth making a public stink.

Russia Launches ‘Information’ War...

13 people indicted. Some war!

Again, where are the charges against Mexico, and upwards of 30 million people squatting on our land?

This is bullshit alarmism by McCarthy.

The US and the West established the Gold Standard of information warfare decades ago. The Russians are still playing catch up.

The gap is enormous.

One burning question I have is why didn’t the FBI take possession of Hillary’s server that supposedly was proof of Russian hacking?

Where are the CIA and NSA?

Do they see anything?

Yes, counterproductive from a counterintelligence perspective.

But Mueller and company are willing to take a loss in the national defense column to score a few, extremely weak “narrative” points.

You know it’s a nothing burger when they release their findings on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend

Thanks. Been waiting to see what McCarthy had to say about the indictments.

I try not to go to NR any more than I have too.

Just BEWARE! The comment section of NR will test the limits of your blood pressure meds. Hard to distinguish between the #neverTrumpers and the Lunatic Lefty trolls that hang around there

Yes. DemocRATs act against America, again. The party leaders are communist. Many of the lefties in that party are communist. The rest are a collection of entitled racists, white-guilt wet noodles, and simply ignorant people who stopped their mental development in the teens years.

Depends on who the target is. The government and Mueller have no real beef against Russia. The target is Trump. The public stink is not aimed at the defendants of the indictment.

McCarthy’s journey on Comey:

1) questionable decision-maker
2) bad decision-maker
3) possible crooked.

It’s taken him a while but the facts are overwhelming. Comey’s “get Trump” plan has been a disaster.

I guess I have a stupid question.

Does anyone think the Netanyahu government might have had a preference in our last election and acted upon it?

Obama had no problem trying to defeat Netanyahu.

So what's the difference between what some Russians might have done and some Israelis might have done; or what Obama DID?

When I’ve pointed out on other venues that there is no proof that the Russians “hacked “ the DNC server other than DNC- hired Crowdstrike, I always get the same response from some liberal that other international investigators corroborate the Russia connection.

Never mind that none of them actually examined the server either. Kinda like that “19 Intelligence Agencies all agree” crap from Jugears
