The Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) is an act of the U.S. Congress signed into law by President George H.W. Bush that prohibits any unauthorized individual from knowingly possessing a firearm at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone as defined by.
It was introduced in the U.S. Senate in October 1990 by Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware.

How about that...
Lets see the stats on injuries due to gunfire on or near schools since and before this wonderful law.
Who forced Bush to sign that dreck? It is a horrible, deadly piece of shit.
.
Gun-free zones are designated massacre zones.

.
GHWB would have signed anything that would empower tyranny.

The ‘Gun Free School Zones’ act introduced by Joe Biden was perhaps the biggest mistake that Congress ever made. The subliminal suggestion to take a gun to school and shoot it up just appealed to kooks. That one thing is responsible for these school shootings we have today, more than anything else. We should take down the Gun Free School Zone signs and start executing the goofballs shooting up schools within a year. We also should arm the teachers immediately. To not do the one thing that would prevent these shootings is stupid and liberal.
Teachers, for the most part, are snowflakes. You can’t “force” them to carry a gun, and you certainly can’t trust them to use it properly.
Teachers are the folks saying Columbus committed genocide. Actually, this may point to deeper societal problems that cause young men to be full of hatred and self-loathing.
Probably could also be called Gun Free-fire Zones.
Post-17th Amendment ratification Sen. Biden Jr. evidently did not understand that a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting Supreme Court justices had clarified the following.
The states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate INTRAstate commerce.
"10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]." -Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." United States v. Butler, 1936.
And what post-FDR era, institutionally indoctrinated Supreme Court justices seem to be ignoring since Wickard v. Filburn was wrongly decided in Congress's favor imo is this.
There was nothing stopping Sen. Biden, or any post-17th Amendment ratification member of Congress, from trying to rally both Houses of Congress to propose amendments for new federal powers to the Constitution to the states, as the Founding States had intended, for hopeful ratification.
Instead, not only did Biden wrongly introduce the bill without reasonable constitutional justification imo, but state sovereignty-ignoring Congress passed the bill.
That being said, will somebody please remind me why the states ratified the 17th Amendment?
The 17th Amendment has given us plenty of headaches and needs to be repealed.
The 16th Amendment can disappear too.
The point is that the weirdos do not know who the snowflakes are and the prospect of walking into a school with a gun and meeting someone with a gun also is a deterrent.
