Why are we not looking to our military for strategies on how to defend our schools? They are the ones who have the training - no one else does. Shouldn't our focus be on the defense of our schools? How many military personnel have been on TV to be interviewed? None.
Some areas to be assessed:
1) location 2) building lay-out 3) who has access (list of problem individuals) 3) personnel available to look, listen, report 4) response to an invasion
Every school community has a large pool of willing individual volunteers who could give some hours to patrol each week. And one or more armed volunteer personnel trained for response to invasion.
In all the PTA meetings on a million subjects, where is the serious, specific, practical, effective protection of the student "compound"? Lead by a person from the military trained in such operations?
All government mandated gun free zones should have metal detectors and armed guards at all entrances. “Gun free” and “fortified entrances” need to go hand in glove. You can’t have the one without the other.
Probably because the Military Experts would not recommend disarming the populace, and that is the goal of the liberals.
The Hero football coach if he was allowed to be armed I know would have taken Nicolas out.
There is no military solution to the problem. That is why you are not hearing from them.
Bingo. Obama stuffed the Chain of Command with Leftist tools. They require as much purging as the intel agencies and DOJ.
“Probably because the Military Experts would not recommend disarming the populace...”
Then why was it necessary to scream bloody murder for soldiers be allowed to carry on Army bases? Just saying that it might have been possible to mitigate things like the Fort Hood shooting.
There are plenty of informed opinions on the subject, however I will interpret your question as meaning why don’t we hear sober, rational, military/security experts on say CNN or MSNBC or their brethren? And my answer would be “do you really need to ask?”.
“WHY ARE WE NOT HEARING FROM MILITARY EXPERTS?”
Because the military solution is not acceptable to the civilian thought process. The civilian one is to wait for a conflict to happen, then be shocked, and over react to a way to get it corrected at that place, at that time.
The military expects the problems to happen in a specific place either before we arrive or after it does and we expect more just because we are there. We then shoot people and blow things up getting the problem people caught or killed, expecting collateral damage, and then we stay for a while to try to clean up part of the mess.
These are two different requirements for the issues. Neither one is acceptable for the problem involved for both.

Hearing the opposite from quite a few of the Generals that Obama promoted. They do want the populace disarmed.
They want transgenders in the Army.
Because the military has no expertise on this. They have far less than city cops. Likewise for the FBI, they also have less.
You may not have noticed but Ft Hood, Norfolk, embassies, a couple of Air Force bases, and all the mass murders inside secure compounds in Afghanistan.
Mostly out military leaders couldn’t his a bull in the ass with a big base fiddle.
Because they help plan it.
It’s not a military problem.
Israeli schools have limited controlled access.
You have to be admitted.
Remember Ft Hood? They weren’t allowed to be armed.
The military basically lives in a childlike environment of base life where every move is specified by an autocratic leader. They are woefully unprepared to run security at a school where there is no base commander on high to issue commands.
The best example of this is the retired Air Force or Army guy who is always whining to the HOA about the rules needing to be more strict.
Yep.
I have to go through a detector just to enter the county courthouse and see the clerk of court. All pocket knives, multitools, etc are taken by a deputy at the detector and returned to the owner on leaving. Oh, and there are a number of armed officers there, despite the fact that the actual sheriff's office is not at the courthouse.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but a collection of records, assorted paperwork and lawyers with political connections (we call them "county attorneys" and "judges") need more protection than kids do.
Our military is not geared to protect civilians. The reason we ran over the Iraqis twice in literally days, is because they are trained, equipped and ordered to suppress their own population so the ruling class is protected.
