Opinion: After the Parkland shooting, let's call GOP hypocrisy on guns what it really is: complicity
NBC "News" ^ | February 15, 2018 | by Kurt Bardella

By their own logic, the GOP and Trump are complicit in America's mass shooting epidemic.

On January 20, 2018, President Donald Trump's campaign released a television ad titled “Complicit” that blamed Democrats for murders committed by illegal immigrants.

Trump tweeted that day: “Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border.

If Donald Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress can blame Democrats for the actions of undocumented immigrants, then the American people should be able to blame Trump and Congressional Republicans for murders committed with guns. After all, Republicans’ main criticism of Democrats on immigration is that they are too soft, too slow to crack down, too sympathetic to immigrants. And yet, Republicans are just as sympathetic to gun lobbyists and manufacturers - not to mention willing to take their campaign contributions - and just as slow to crackdown on background check loopholes.

This is an imperfect metaphor, however. Because while many researchers have concluded that undocumented immigrants do not commit a disproportionate number of crimes in the U.S., researchers do believe that there are specific gun laws that, if implemented, could reduce the number of mass shootings, and the lower the body count when fatal shootings do tragically happen.

Earlier this month, Trump tweeted that “we need a 21st Century MERIT-BASED immigration system” and that our current approach to immigration was “outdated” and “hurt our economic and national security.”

Too bad this same logic hasn’t been applied to common-sense gun reform. And until that happens, it is not only likely — but assured — that more Americans will needlessly and brutally die.

I missed where GOP supports illegal possession of firearms or the possession of fire arms by people known to be unfit to carry them.

There was enough anti social behavior history on this man that would have made it possible to have him assessed.

Remember the video of the DNC Party leader who stated that they keep their crazy and use them to commit acts of violence? This person was involved with Resistance groups.

The Democrats controlled the White House and both houses of Congress during Obama’s first two years as president.

If this is so important to them, why didn’t they do something then, when they had overwhelming majorities in Congress and had the white house???

I know they pushed Obamacare at that time. But what are they bitching about? If this could be solved by an act of Congress, why didn’t a Democrat Congress take action when they had the majority????

We have too many guns.

Liberals want to ban them but not lock up crazy people, deport violent illegal alien gangbangers or execute murderers.

Its the values, stupid.

Complicity is the deliberate failure to protect them with actual security.

If you leave your wallet unattended on the ground in your driveway on purpose, and someone drives by and swipes it, don’t come crying to me about losing your wallet, and don’t you dare tell me that you’re going to ban my car.

These mass shootings keep happening because the media pays so much attention to them, because they want to use them as a weapon take away our Constitutional rights.

To make this a simple argument, one only has to go and modify the Constitution to change the right to weapons, as something NOT a right. Then put this up for state by state voting, and wrap this up real easy.

The problem? It’s not a GOP issue. You can go to a hundred working class Democrats, and find that more than seventy percent have no real desire to modify the Constitution, and that they feel that the right should stay a right.

So you face the dilemma....the media just says to fix it. Well, when you examine most all mass murders, you come to the majority of these people having emotional issues and most (probably over 90-percent) should have been confined to a mental facility. Before the 1960s, we operated a simple system where judges and relatives could easily confine nutcases. Notice how when we got rid of the nut institutions...that these mass shootings picked up?

But do people want to go and put crazy folks away permanently? No.

So the rest of this game is just stupid discussion with no real solution. As long as it is a right...we don’t progress. As long as we pretend nutcases are normal...we don’t progress.

Tools do not make sociopathic personalities. Focusing on the tools that sociopathic personalities employ, rather than on analyzing what creates sociopathic personalities, can only serve to obscure the actual dynamics of the incredible evil that sociopathic personalities are capable ofinflicting.

The complicit ones, in this are the media and others who divert attention from what is actually involved.

To underscore the point, consider the potential horror that one bent on savaging normal people could accomplish with the wealth of other than firearm devices, readily obtainable, it evil i the driving intention? (Some of these have been employed within the last 12 months.

The author of this piece is either dangerously confused, or engaged in an effort to distract from what is really driving the susceptible among us, over the edge.

Then by the lefts logic isn’t this false? Or are they now endorsing the idea that illegal alien criminals are their fault?

Little Voice here: Let’s find another word for ‘tragedy’. This is only a tragedy if it were found an illegal alien had said gun and killed innocents..IE. Kate Steinle. That would be called a tragedy due to the fact an illegal had done the shooting. This, it would be called a massacre of irrational proportions (see, also, Las Vegas)

Liberals use their own, pre-written dictionary.

This Cruz psychopath is a registered democrat voter in Broward County. Does that factor into this discussion too?
Maybe Democrats should be banned from possessing guns.
