It's not just criminal trials where there is pressure to git 'er done before trial.

I was told by a civil litigator that 95% or more of his cases were settled before trial, mostly because after discovery, and pre-trial motion jockeying, they had a pretty good idea of how the case would go, and because full-on big civil trials are extremely expensive in terms of legal fees.

Remember our naive youth, when many of us actually trusted the legal system?
OK, at least i did.
Nope, I’ve never tangled with it, but I sincerely hope that I never do.

Speedy trial? LOL! I know a guy who was arrested in July 2016 for impersonating a federal law enforcement agent and didn’t go to trial until early this past December.......

Just eliminate plea bargaining and force the government to take every single case to a jury.

Depends on whether you’re guilty or not.

Flynn plead guilty to a crime he didn’t commit just to stop the financial bleeding for he and his son.

Another Constitutional no-no is trying to exercise your rights to jury nullification. The elitist judges do not like that at all.

But, with the right pool of jurors, it can be done on the sly.

So what is the legal standard time line for a speedy trial once charged?

Seems the courts are fragrantly negligent on defining that.

The judiciary is the most corrupt and evil part of our government. It is full of hacks and those who lust only for more power. It needs to be completely revamped and this includes the SCOTUS...

Defendants also accept a plea bargain along the lines of better the devil you know than 12 people who would rather be anywhere but here deciding your fate. Even innocent people may opt for this when presented with the case the DA is making against them.

I once had a friend of the family (who has now passed away) who was a Judge in Iowa for 30+ years, tell me the court cannot guarantee you justice. The best it can do is offer a chance at justice. That was eye opening to me as a young man.

There is no Constitution...thus no speedy trials. Besides, laws and procedures are only for the schmucks, not for the precious elite.

The silver lining is that more and more of the American public is becoming aware of this.

With all of the corruption in our legal system I suspect that within a decade it will become nearly impossible to get a jury to convict on any charge.

The up side is that if you are white without any previous arrest, you can probably get away with most anything short of killing someone.

So we have that going for us.

Another way to look at this is that the defendant can threaten to ask for a jury trial in hopes of being able to plea to a lesser charge with less time.
