This is another example of a special interest colluding with big government to deprive Americans of their rights. The Institute for Justice is in the forefront of defending the little guy from government abuse.
In addition to fighting abusive licensing and government regulation, IJ also defends people whose property is being threatened by eminent domain and people who have had their money confiscated on the basis that it "might" be related to drug crimes.

Ping to those who commented on the story about an attempt by veterinary interests to force farriers out of business.

There is no telling what a person might do if they are self-sustaining - they might become a conservative.
we can’t have that now - can we?

“to turn his love of working with horses into a stable profession”
Unintended pun in a serious article.

Legislators cannot be depended upon to uphold people’s rights. Most of them are for sale to the highest bidder. That is why we need organizations like IJ to defend people and why we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights.

"Unintended pun in a serious article." Had to be intentional. Not bad.

public school teachers DO NOT WANT ANY COMPETITION....they attempt to crush parochial schools or private schools and they will go after home schoolers.....they'll do this by backing very restrictive legislation and since they own the govt, often they get what they want...
its like union firemen...they hate volunteer firemen and often push standards at the state level that limits or eliminates volunteer fire fighters....

Funny.
I used to teach at a for-profit school in Arizona.
I was qualified to teach there because I had a four year college degree.
I wasnt qualified to enroll there because I was a high school drop out and never bothered with a GED.
However my degree was good enough to allow me to serve as an officer in the military.
Go figure.

Something similar to this was going on in CA years ago against the hairdressers/hair salons. It was so long ago, I’ve forgotten the details. Lived there at the time and none of it made sense. The people working all were properly licensed but still the state was unhappy about one thing or another regarding their profession; closed them down or fined them...

California proves yet again that there are limits to human intelligence, but no limits when it comes to human stupidity.
