The Boston Police Department apologized early Monday after tweeting a Black History Month tribute post that honored a white man.
The tweet, which was deleted less than an hour after it went up Sunday night, was posted on the department’s official account “in honor of #BlackHistoryMonth.” However, the tweet celebrated the accomplishments of former Boston Celtics coach and president Red Auerbach, who was white.
Police officials responded to mounting criticism Monday on Twitter.

These are the people running the heart of government. Really sad.
They should had saved the tweet for Red History Month.
So this human being is not worth honoring in February because of his race?

The Globe also has a piece by an Asian-American writer condemning a WEEI Boston sports talk host for mocking the accent of Tom Brady’s manager Don Yee (who was born in the US and has no Asian accent; host has been suspended). A “yeah I believe in free speech, but...” article. One comment notes the writer was not similarly outraged by a local college professor who said he wishes Trump dies.
I can’t get past the pay wall so I’ll just wing it:
Obviously, they feel there were no whites involved in black history and black racial progress.
Perhaps we should have “stupid people month” overlap with black history month.
I also frequently hear people talk about how “people of color” are treated (um, do you mean colored people?).I’m a person of color too. White is a color. There is white colored paint.What color is my car? White.
So the Boston Police put out a tweet honoring Red, who did a lot for black people (light up that victory cigar in Celtics heaven, Red) and are criticized for it.
And how about the Democrats who showed the great diversity of their party by finding a (rich) white man to do the SOTU response. Why not a woman, or a Democrat Of Color?
This is sick. When will people be allowed to do as they want in the US again ? This is why out nation has been in trouble. We don’t need PC, we need freedom.
Is March White History month so that poor white guy can be honored respectfully?

Red was the first NBA coach to start 5 black players in a game. Not notable enough?
The Boston police have committed a heinous hate crime. Where is Al Sharpton?

Without Red Auerbach there is no Bill Russell.
Things like this make it very difficult to be optimistic about the future of this country.
A few of us realize that the game of basketball was really developed to keep black male prisoners occupied while incarcerated.
