“... completely flopped on Benghazi.”

Umm...no.

Because of Gowdy’s work on Benghazi, lotta closeted skeletons got dragged out into the daylight. It wasn’t a legal proceeding, so he didn’t have power to more than expose evidence; Prosecution for crimes exposed would have had to be initiated in another venue.

We’ve no way to gauge what he might have accomplished had he power to actually Prosecute those he subjected to his grilling. It was certainly evident how he’d swing had he the power to Judge and sentence them; they’d have all been “long ball” otta the park homerun “guilty” convictions.

By leaving Gowdy is in position to land someplace where his incisive lines of questioning, and his ability to drive toward evident truth would be of greater utility; perhaps as a Federal Judge, or even a SCOTUS nomination.

Gowdy announced that he will not be seeking any elected office, and that he will be returning to the Justice System.

I’d guess DoJ, FBI, or a judgeship. He seems like a prosecutor by nature, so maybe a judgeship is less likely.

Maybe he’ll be the new Special Counsel, to hound Democrats.

People forget that the head of a committee doesn't have any power to initiate a criminal prosecution. All Gowdy had the power to do was hold hearings, push for evidence, etc..

I did not know this. This explains the erroneous "all hat no cattle" label I have previously put on him. This was all he could legally do, to hold hearings. As a former prosecutor he was/is probably very frustrated.

Trey Gowdy can be much more effective as a prosecuting attorney. His gigs in the House have not allowed prosecution. Not a career politician. Good thing.

The retiring Republicans are doing so because their seats are now perceived to be safe for a Republican to win.

I would guess Gowdy would like to be a Federal Judge, maybe just a prosecutor would be a relief from Washington

When is Lindsey Graham up for re-election? I think he could easily beat Lindsey. Would prefer to see him as AG. Actually though, he looks like he misses being a prosecutor.

Should we be worried? I don’t think there will be a Dem landslide...some might be replaced by Dems, but most will be R...

Those who follow Q, Q hinted Gowdy would be stepping down and taking on a trusted role. Those who follow “Your Voice America” co-host Brendan Dilley (@hublife) and his intel source (who reveals more shocking things than Q), the word from Brendan this morning is:

“Don’t worry about Trey Gowdy... his new job will help America FAR greater than his old one.”

They don't forget someone says it overtime Gowdy is brought up. Fact is when the Democrats control Justice we don't ever expect a case to come out of a Republican investigation, but Justice belongs to the Republicans now, so think of another excuse.

Does anyone know if Mr. Gowdy made a pledge not to serve beyond 3 or 4 terms? He could be fulfilling that pledge.

My first thought too. What return favors were given for his huge financial gain?
