Media Blackout As Democrats Publicly Struggle With Benefits Of GOP Tax Cut
The Daily Caller ^ | 01/26/2018 | Peter Hasson

Posted on 01/26/2018 10:08:57 PM PST by Mr. Mojo

The establishment media have saved Democrats from embarrassment by refusing to cover their struggling attempts to explain away the positive economic effects the Republican tax bill delivered for the working class.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other leading Democrats predicted the tax bill would be a disaster for the working class — “Armageddon” is how Pelosi described it — only to see more than three million American workers receive bonuses and pay raises as a result of the GOP tax cuts. Additionally, 90 percent of workers are expected to see an increase in take-home pay in 2018.

Pelosi, one of the wealthiest members of Congress, has consistently dismissed the bonuses that workers are receiving as “pathetic” and “crumbs.”

Democratic Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), similarly struggled to explain the bonuses when confronted about them at a town hall. Wasserman first claimed that she hadn’t “heard of any bonuses over $1,000,” even though tens of thousands of workers have received bigger bonuses than that. (Apple, for example, gave employees $2,500 bonuses.) After establishing that misleading premise, Wasserman Schultz then claimed that $1,000 doesn’t go “very far for anyone.”

Republican have pointed to Pelosi and Wasserman Schultz’s comments as proof that the Democrats are out of touch with working class voters. Republican senators even released an ad mocking Pelosi for the “crumbs” comment.

But the establishment media have ignored the entire Democratic debacle. As of this article, the New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN have combined for zero articles about Pelosi’s “crumbs” comments, even as she has doubled– and tripled-down on them.

If Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had dismissed working class benefits from a Democratic bill as “crumbs,” Washington Free Beacon editor David Rutz argued Friday, “the press and chattering class would have a field day.” Rutz noted that CNN and MSNBC’s on-air coverage have similarly buried Pelosi’s comments from public view.

It’s worth noting: at the same time that they were ignoring Pelosi’s “crumbs” comment, some prominent members of the establishment media were instead advancing conspiracy theories about President Trump’s mental health.

The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.

Disney and Comcast have the greatest control over the MSM properties. These companies are not your friends. Don’t patronize them.

Lots of fodder for 2018 TV ads. Tone deaf stupid for the Dems to say this stuff. CNN doesn’t understand they don’t control the message anymore.

During the 8 years of Obozo I received about $30-35 dollars a month increase in my social security cola increases. Inflation was at least twice what the amount of our percentage increase was, so don’t believe anything the Dumbocrats say about the lousy $1000 to 2500 bonuses and raises in wages that are all because of our great MAGA President.

The period where working-class Americans were represented by the Democratic Party...came and went in the 1980s and 1990s. There’s no party platform or engagement angle that benefits the average working-class guy in America within the Party. I think Trump simply swooped in and laid out some path for working-class folks....didn’t matter if they were Republican or Democrat.

For Pelosi and crew...utterly lost on some perspective of just regular working people.

Bet dear Maxine Waters will bring it all into focus very elegantly when she gives the Democratic party response to President Trump’s State of the Union. This will be a priceless moment as she defines today’s Democratic party.

"...leading Democrats predicted the tax bill would be a disaster for the working class "

Thus proving that they were so consumed with hatred for Trump, that they never bothered to read the bill, and walked themselves into one of the biggest political blunders in history.

Now they're in the unenviable position of running against the guys who just delivered an economic boom to their constituents.

Someone in that party has to grab the controls and steer their ship back to reality, or they're toast for at least the next decade. Maybe forever.

I can picture the Tweet already...

"Crumbs" Pelosi, one of the richest people in Congress, thinks $1000 isn't a lot of money. Maybe Crumbs needs less time in the Botox chair!

Every single working American right now, this week, is getting a raise. I wound up with 220/month. That’s all that’s needed. More money in everyones pocket. The rest works itself out quite nicely.

They certainly don't need our help, do they?

It's like watching a slow motion train wreck. There's a landslide of boulders on the tracks, just ahead, and the engineers and passengers are blissfully unaware that they're moments from death.

Metaphors aside, the Dems have lost 1,400 races since 2010, yet haven't done any substantial analysis to discover the reasons why. If they had, the party leaders would have steered the rank and file back towards the center, but they've done the exact opposite.

You'd think the 2016 election would have been the slap in the face they needed to snap them out of their dream state, but no.

My hope is that the Democrats keep telling people that having more money is somehow a bad thing.

#FakeNews

Even when the media say nothing, they are acting as the partisan propaganda arm of the far-left socialist party.
