WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a life-long diabetic, was treated by paramedics for low blood sugar at her home in Washington on Friday morning but was able to go to work afterward, a court spokeswoman said.
The 63-year-old Sotomayor, one of the nine-member courts four liberal justices, was diagnosed as a child with type 1 diabetes and has openly discussed her experience with the chronic illness in the past. She was named to the court in 2009 by Democratic former President Barack Obama.
Justice Sotomayor experienced symptoms of low blood sugar at her home this morning. She was treated by D.C. Emergency Medical Services and is doing fine, spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said in a statement. She came to work, resumed her usual schedule, and will be participating in planned activities over the weekend.

In before the cruel stuff
I’m glad she’s OK. I wish she wise up and change her politics
And I know the cure for Type 2..........
What’s her waste size?
Does she wear dentures?
Does she have bone spurs?
Will a reporter ask what her life expectancy is now? Or if the doctor is hiding anything? How about disputing her weight?
The wise latina? Or the ever lovable Elena Kagan?
I have great sympathy for her. She should retire so she can focus on taking care of her medical needs.
Did she have a BigMac and fries?
I wish her the best. She should retire and take care of her health.
Isnt that the point. Not going to happen. Her, Ginsburg, McCain, Collins, etc. I wish them 500 years if theyll retire and stop injuring my country. Failing that they cant be called home to glory fast enough to suit me
Elena Kagan voted in favor of upholding Trump’s travel ban.
Sotomayor has bad politics, but she is beloved by conservative colleagues.
I won’t say what I first thought — it was quite unworthy, and I suppressed the thought as quickly as I could. But I’m not proud that I thought it.
No she;d a Latina, so she had something from Taco Bell.
I didn’t know that. I lost a wife to this disease—it’s horrible.
Maybe not die, but retire so she can focus on her health. Her family would appreciate.
