This is so damned simple. If you’re wringing your hands over your privacy via “social media” - stop using the damned thing.

I’m on Facebook because I have rekindled a ton of old friendships there and I can make endless phone calls through it for free. I don’t post anything there that I don’t want the whole world to know, though.
Now I might have to sign up for Twitter and post endless pics of gross things, so that some Nazi has to spend all day looking at them.
So many people simply flip by the “Terms of Service” and check the boxes.
They unwittingly sign away their privacy.
They are oblivious with respect to how much Big Brother knows about them and can ruin their life (Twitter sends your wife/girlfriend/boss pictures from that batchelor party)
If your wife/girlfriend/boss do not make your life miserable, be sure some mental social justice warrior will round up the mob and get your fired, or your assets frozen, etc.
The government and politicians purchase those virtual profiles of you created by facebook/google/twitter.
They then use the data to manipulate, or gaslight, you to change the culture or get re-elected
Maybe we should create our conservative Facebook or Twitter then!!!!!!

A wise man. If something you write would cause trouble if it was seen by your boss and all your friends under your real name, perhaps it would be better to not hit "send". That goes double for pictures.

And they have no idea if who I present myself as is really who I am. Been in IT for decades, I know what they’re doing.
It is surprising to me that anyone would think they had privacy on any system.
As a general rule of thumb, assume anything you post can be read by others.
