WASHINGTON — Two Republican senators have made the first known criminal referral in congressional investigations of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. They’re targeting the author of a dossier of allegations about President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham say they’ve referred former British spy Christopher Steele

Polonium is a big alpha emitter. Outside the skin, it's fairly safe and tame stuff. Ingested? Deadly.

That has to be the answer of why Graham looks like he’s doing something. We won’t forget how he he has turned on conservatives in the past.

-- How can a criminal referral be worth damn against a Brit? --

Assuming the crime is committed against the US, the same way a criminal referral works against any alien (legal or illegal).

BS. That would indicate all this time that knew and have done nothing. He should play ignorant and after real evidence materialized recuse himself.

On treason, I know......but I think we would be dreaming to achieve that charge.

For the lesser charges, I read on twitter (forget who) that most crimes are 5 years and that time has run or will soon run out on many crimes.

I believe Greg Jarret on Fox mentioned this too, a few months back.

You are player checkers, Grassley (and Linda) just told everyone that Steele is a liar and the dossier is nothing but lies. No one is going after the lying Steele, but no one can credibly claim the there is any truth to the Steele dossier, without bringing him in an having him testify. Which is not going to happen, since he is not under US authority and he knows he is a liar. Check.

“How do they extradite Steele and get him over here from Merry Olde England?”

Just kidding, but President Trump is unpredictable....one of his great strengths....and the British should be worried about U.S. retaliation of some sort if they do not cooperate.

I’m a little confused here. What exactly would you like to see happening right now that can’t happen because of Sessions’ recusal?

I believe Graham is raising his profile for personal reasons. He probably knows damn well that he was a target of illicit FISA surveillance during the 2016 campaign.

He has no leverage through his MI6 background. This isn't a case where he was involved in an intelligence-gathering operation in some backwater in Africa. He was a key player in a foreign campaign to undermine a presidential election in which the target of his work ended up winning the damn election.

In intelligence parlance, the British government has a huge incentive to treat him like a "kite" and cut him loose.

Check out the link in Post #41. The Trump transition team almost certainly knew about the surveillance when Rogers paid a visit to Trump Tower on November 18, 2016.

What we obviously need is a fully capable AG that is actually available to help Rosenstein sort out this horrible mess he created when Sessions recused himself. Or fire Rosenstein if that is the proper course determined.

This is argualbly the biggest legal mess at the highest levels of government in our almost 250 year history! Having an AG who can’t even fully perform the duties of the job at this time is completley ridiculous, I don’t care who that person is.

Thanks for asking!

You’re missing my point. No one is officially investigating that angle though. Until someone actually starts an investigation into the real crimes here—no need to recuse himself. He just needs to play along until real evidence is found that suggests that he was illegally wire tapped. Then he can recuse himself. Until then it’s just crazy talk (according to the liberals).

So if the liberals say he needs to recuse, his response is why, are you suggesting the wire taps did occur and were illegal?

And that may be key to getting a lot of support from the GOPe. Everyone who ran for the nomination got the treatment from the Deep State.

Who, for one minute, thinks that Trump was the the only Republican spied on, FISA or no FISA. This was a Hillary/Obama operation. They got s**t on every potent opponent...all 16 of ‘em. The purpose of weaponizing the Federal agencies was to retain power, not just to get Trump.
