But the first flashpoint of disagreement is Scotts bottom line: Its $4 billion higher than what he proposed a year ago and $21 billion more than his first budget seven years ago. [snip] A second problem with the House is Scotts reliance on $450 million in growth in property values, and higher property tax bills, to pay for most of a $200-per-pupil increase in public school spending next year.

Florida is important. Scott needs to take on Nelson. If not what good is he?
A new meaning to “The Resistance”?
Sad and surprised to read this because I was under the impression that Scott was a fiscally responsible governor.
Throwing money at public education and hiking property taxes fly in the face of him being a strong, conservative Senatorial candidate against Nelson.
Florida certainly could benefit from a more frugal voice in the upper chamber in Washington, D.C.
Little Marco seems to want to sweeten the pot every chance he gets.
Meanwhile, President Trump has endorsed Congressman Ron DeSantis for governor to succeed Scott in Tallahassee.
DeSantis appeared on Fox and Friends Tuesday morning and did not deny his interest and appreciated The President’s support.
Hoping for good GOP news from Florida, thee crucial linchpin to President Trump’s reelection hopes in 2020 and all future republican electoral prospects.
Does Hurricane Irma ring a bell?
Get your facts right sir! In Florida the governor has no impact on property taxes. That is controlled at the county level. Learn the state before you condemn a great governor. Scott pushed the state legislature to double the amount decreasing property taxes by doubling the amount automatically erased from your taxable value of your home. In Florida trim times property value equals property tax. That is the system.
Furthermore to believe anything coming out of that Florida rag is a outright lie and or distortion. What the Washington Post is to the USA the Miami Herald is too Florida. Never ever expect any truth from what we call the Florida rag. The funny thing is there Spanish version of that rag never agrees with the English version. The Cuban community knows the truth by reading the Spanish version....Think I am wrong Channel 10 out of Miami on sunday morning has the so called South Florida news when they get to the round table what do you see 4 registered democrats and 1 visiting Republican. That’s 4 to 1 in any book thats a joke BTW it is sponsored by the Miami Herald.....
The Governor has zero effect on all the disgusted Puerto Ricans fleeing democrat wrecked PR more fake news...
More half truths Governor Scott is term limited out and Trump knows it. De Santis needs to stay in DC to help drain the swamp...
Welcome and appreciate your correction and insight.
BTW, I happen to be a woman and have no intention on condemning Governor Scott.
Great to know how hard he has fought for the people of Florida and hope he’ll defeat Senator Nelson next November.
Again, thanks for post and no hard feelings going forward.
