If they took out the 529 plan, that would be a HUGE loss to school choice ...

I think the Senate will vote first this time. And the House will vote next. The House voted first so that the Senate had time to decide if the bill was legal according to its rules. The House assumed it would be found legal. But these two sections were found to be in violation. The Senate has to also allow ten hours of debate. So it will stay in session until those ten hours are over. Probably through the night.

The 529 provision allowed parents to put money into a tax free account and use the money for private schooling, K-12 ... that was the best provision in the bill. Finally a win for school choice, and now it’s taken away.

I bet Trump isn’t well versed on it or he’d do it. He’s not afraid of a little controversy hahaha

Probably but they should have put it in at the beginning instead of trying to attach it at the end. If this whole thing goes down is it worth that one thing? I know that for 3 generations every person in my immediate family went to Catholic School and still to the day. I’d rather just get this thing passed then a credit for tuition that i would get for the 4 kids.

What an incompetent bunch of clowns.

Performances like these during my corporate years, would get demotions or dismissals.

Rules are rules. We knew they’d do everything possible to obstruct.

Do they not vote on these rules and agree to them before each session? Is this a valid parliamentarian rule according some standard set forth elsewhere? I’m not being snarky, it’s a legit question.

Power isn’t about HOW BIG a grip you have; it’s about WHERE you have your grip.

Sabe?

BTW, this is a lesson ENTIRELY LOST on the eGOP.

IMO it boils down to just another childish, and I mean childish Democrat stunt to poke the Republicans in the ribcage, and make them wince.

It serves no purpose other than they, the Democrats can cause a problem.

Thanks for the explanation.

The Senate has to also allow ten hours of debate. So it will stay in session until those ten hours are over. Probably through the night.

I hope there are no news cameras allowed in the Senate chambers during debate. The Dems would stage the biggest shouting match you ever saw.
