I DO know that prior to the Soviets stepping in, North Korea was a haven for American christian missionaries. Deeming Pyongyang “The Jerusalem of the East.” Then it became an atheist hell hole, where in sofar as even being seen with a Bible you can be beaten or raped. South Korea on the other hand, sends out more Christian missionaries than any country. Second only to the U.S.

Was Teddy Roosevelt’s Nobel Peace Prize for bringing end to the Russo-Japanese war a sham?

The freeing of Eastern Europe (including the Baltic states) was simply a miracle. Reagan, Thatcher, and John Paul II...all were in just right place at just right time. Plus in Gorbachev the USSR had a leader who was not willing to send in the tanks.

But the success of this intervention (if you want to call it that) does not mean that all interventions are good ones.

It’s all falling into place.

Exactly as it should.

On a side note, all the electronic “pay” systems - now we have MasterPass. Pay-by-Phone; there was an older one i’m forgetting now - it was 15 years ago - a swipe of some chipped thing - a dongle you’d put on a key chain.

I wish I could remember the name. We have the bracelet pay, etc.

Ok. Russia Today and other propaganda has succeeded then in telling you that there is nothing to love about your country. All our victories have been flukes. And our intentions are always selfish. Fine.

Huh? I never said either of those. In fact I very much disagree with each statement. So either you are putting words in my mouth, or I am not expressing myself to you very well.

Either way, I suppose our conversation will no longer be productive. So I’m signing off on this thread to go watch an episode of Cops.

Sudan, Iran, Cuba. Venezuela, and North Korea all in Putin's corner.

The only country on that list currently subject to a US trade embargo is North Korea, which as anyone with a modicum of common sense knows is in China's corner, not Putin's.

Your false witness against Russia continues.

Russia not China installed Kim Il Sung regime in North Korea mac_truck. So there is history there even before Putin.

And you don’t think Putin’s Russia and China don’t share a common interest in keeping No.Ko going think again. Even Trump after his phone call to Putin last week said Russia is not helping right now with North Korea. (Even though they can.)

Yes, they were waving Soviet flags as enthusiastically not so long time ago. It would make sense for them to develop a sort of self-respect and learn to like their own flags first. And in order to get respect from others to stop kissing whatever big nation’s behind they think fits at any present moment depending on political winds.

“” “Ukraine is more complicated, but grania even ethnic Russians will increasingly dispute the idea that all the anti-Russian influence uprisings of recent years are simply a Western project.” “”

I don’t believe you aren’t familiar with the current Ukrainian situation and your choice of wording is by itself interesting. You must know that in reality the opposite is true and it is not limited to ethnic Russians. Check out any poll starting with Gallup which is obviously not a ‘Russian propaganda’ . Recent Ukrainian government (on average over years!) is less popular than the overthrown one at its worst days right before revolution. It is actually in line with tendencies regarding pro-Western revolutions in Kiev. The Yuschenko ‘Orange revolution’ had flopped the same way leading to election of pro-Russian Yanukovych. Now the history of mid2000s is repeating itself. 90% of all Ukrainians say they want overthrown Yanukovych government back. Current government is the least popular in Ukraine over recorded history and probably less popular than Stalin’s administration at the time.
If the tendencies are correct in two years they’d bury their Nazi paraphernalia wrap themselves in Russian flags and ask Putin to forgive Maidan. It did happen before.

“” “It is very telling when places like Poland and Ukraine tear down their Lenin idols and Soviet statues (finally after all this time) and the Russian government proceeds to bully them...What era are they living in one wonders...”” “

I wonder why Finland still has Lenin statues? Maybe they aren’t in 1984 mode and aren’t into rewriting history.

Mohammad Zahoor is the publisher of the Kyiv Post...

The former Jewish prime minister of Ukraine, IMF stooge Arseniy Yatsenyuk, fought for Chechen Islamists against Russia.

Just some interesting facts.
